At that power level you don't need a lot of upgrades in a 518 or 46RH (non lock up) to meet your goals. Then you can run any 727 style torque converter.
If you go with a lock up version, the converter is a very specific part. Cope Racing Trans is getting them from Precision Industries and they...
Does your son make his own billet steel main caps? If not, does he have a current source for small block billet steel main caps.
Note: my question is aimed only at X and R blocks capable of four bolt mains.
See post 12. You order those parts from dedicated transmission supply house or builder. They will also help you choose the right parts for your application. No reason to buy a bunch of race parts for use in a street car with 400 horsepower, for example.
Thinner frictions and steels are not chosen just because they are thin. There is a given amount of space in the drum. That given space was designed for a certain number of frictions and steels at the original factory thickness. The number varies in some drums based on torque capacity of the...
Looks like January 2025, according to the search feature. Page 139 of this thread. I even asked questions back then. Wow, I completely forgot. Sorry.
Back then you had glass mounted on it for one of the pictures. Have you test fired it at all yet?
If you have Speedmaster aluminum heads for small block Mopar, they are basically copies of LA style Edelbrock heads. They take the same bolt or stud kit that LA style Edelbrock heads take.
It does not matter that you have a magnum block. Other than making sure you figure out how you will oil...
Got it. Measuring like that I get about .474” to .480” at the different ports. But, the bottom of the casting, where you are measuring to, does not get machined flat to the same level as the head gasket deck surface.
I am probably saying this wrong. Lay your head down on a table or workbench...
Are you measuring to the deck surface like mine or to the bottom of the casting under the intake port? There is a gap between the ruler and the bottom of the casting under the intake port. That gap needs to be part of the measurement.
