    distributor isn't spinning...

i think i've found the root of my troubles. when the engine is cranked, the distributor doesn't spin. is this something commonly seen on slants? i'm going to pull it later to assess the horror, just wondering if this is a common problem.

    What was your first car?

I'm getting the feeling I may be the youngest guy on here. my first car is about 20 years newer than most listed here. First car was a '94 Lebaron handed down from my dad. and you guys are probably going to hate the rest of this list. -'92 Nissan 240sx liftback (still have it, project car)...

swap 170 to 225? (FNG warning)

i recently bought a Valiant with a non-running 170 and i've been working on getting it where it needs to be, but i just found a 225 on craigslist for $150. would this be a drop-in replacement? would anything be different that i'd need to hunt down? could i use my manual tranny on the 225...

tuneup parts? bringing a slant back from the dead

not sure if this is the right section, but i think it is so i need a starter relay for my '66 Valiant, with a 170. Napa wants 18 bucks. this website somebody on here directed to, www.rockauto.com, wants $9.23, but shipping is like 7 bucks per warehouse. so i figured that since things are much...

starter keeps cranking with no key in ignition

cool, cool. where would the starter relay be? this is a '66 Valiant, probably should mention that. Is there some source material I should have that shows where everything is? This isn't my first project, but it IS my first 43 year old project. thanks!

starter keeps cranking with no key in ignition

it'll just keep going until it decides to shut off, and i'm not getting any spark to the cylinders. going to check for voltage across the coil next, but gotta get a wasp nest out of that area (i really wish i was kidding). anybody have any ideas on this one?

new '66 Valiant owner in Missouri

ah cool. thanks. this is my seventh car, but the first where the shifter didn't fit directly into the tranny. i'm a Nissan fan, which may sicken some alright, so i got a good battery in and i'm getting absolutely nothing, time to figure out where the fuses are edit: it looks like two of the...

grumpuscreature, thanks. where can i get marvel mystery oil locally? would napa have it? (edit: looks like trusty old wal mart has it, i'll pick some up tonight) memike, that's exactly the paint scheme i want, but grey/white instead. very cool! double edit: i've never used a 3 on the tree...

new '66 Valiant owner in Missouri

thanks guys. i had a momentary case of buyer's remorse, looking around and seeing that i now own four cars and only one is drivable. this thing doesn't run. the story is short, and goes like this. guy drove it from like the early 80's up until '01, when he parked it, still in running condition...
