    3-speed

I appreciate the feedback guys. I was 13 when my Dad taught me how to drive on this particular car and drove it for a while regularly when I was 16 (I'm 46 now) and of course never noticed any difference. Didn't drive it again after that until I was 43 and after having owned a slew of 5-speed 4...

    3-speed

I have searched the internet like a mad man and cannot even find general information on the 3-speed manual transmission 1972 340 Duster that I own. What's the purpose of having a 3 and 4 speed of the same year and model. Are 3 speeds rare? They must be rare. Can someone explain to me...

    Ground Question

I hope I'm posting this question in the right place, my apologies if this is the wrong forum. On my 1972 Plymouth 340 Duster the power steering went out on me. I take it to a shop and had the mechanic there fix it. When I got it out it ran good but a few days later when I drove it at night I...

    2 things

My 1972 3-speed manual Plymouth 340 Duster has the following issues, 1 - Why do all my lights shut completely off when I hit the high beams? 2 - Why does my car fire right up from a cold start but take forever to start when it's warm.

    My 1972 340 Duster

Ah yes. In '74 me and my brother went with him to trade another car he had for it. Let me put how long ago that was in perspective. I sat in the back seat, my 2 year old brother stood in the front passenger seat. No seat belt law. It's the same car he taught me how to drive with. But here is a...

    My 1972 340 Duster

I'm finally getting around to posting a picture of my 1972 Duster that I inherited from my Dad. Try to disregard my motorcycle. It's all factory except the interior which was white, my Dad changed it to black. He bought it in 1974. Here's a list of items I need/tasks to do a full restoration...

    New and Needing to Learn

Yes, my Dad was a great guy. By the way, he taught my Mom how to drive on the Fury and she didn't waste any time putting it in a ditch either! Pictures soon to come and thanks for the hardy welcomes!

    Stuck in 3rd

3-speed in the floor. I'll do as suggested and let you guys know what I came up with. It's going back to the shop as well because my gas gauge which was working just fine before it initially went in isn't working now after having them install the new gas tank. Boy am I glad I found this forum.

    Stuck in 3rd

It's a 3-speed manual transmission that I assume is factory as I don't recall my Dad (who I inherited it from) ever mentioning that he had any issues with it. The car was only 2 years old when be bought it in 1974. Now it has just over 60,000 miles on it. In the 2 years I've had it the only...

    Stuck in 3rd

Earlier I was trying to locate the transmission dipstick of my 1972 340 Duster. The reason is because I put it in the shop and had the power steering repaired and a new gas tank installed. When I got the car back after the repairs were made it drove beautifully. It drove so smooth that I spent...
