The barnfind 1965 Valiant resurrection thread.

Things have progressed slowly, but it’s at least a constant progression. I had the cylinder head leveled, then lapped the valves and valve seats. I took the opportunity to clean and paint the parts I took off, and got a layer exhaust manifold in good condition. I ran into a little snag with a...

    1970-1972 choke well

Thank you! I’ve found a NOS well. I’m thinking that if I combine that with a 1231 electric choke conversion kit I should be fine… I hope. Electric Choke Conversion Kit CU1231

    1970-1972 choke well

I’ putting the engine(170 cid slant six) back together in my 1965 Plymouth Valiant. I got a “new” exhaust manifold for it, and it seems to have come off a 1970-1972 slant six. I now need a choke well, gasket, and probably a thermostat for it. Does anyone know if this will fit: 1970-72 Choke...

The barnfind 1965 Valiant resurrection thread.

It’s slowly coming along. The head has been resurfaced, I’ve lapped the valves, cleaned everything, painted it, got a replacement exhaust manifold in good condition, painted that, and I rebuilt the carburetor. Today we replaced a bum engine mount. All that’s left now before reassembly is...

Yes, they do look pretty good. I ran my finger over s few of them and couldn’t feel a ridge. I feel pretty good about getting it to run again.

Pulled the cylinder head today. Good thing I did! Are the bolts stretch bolts, or can they be reused?

    Electric choke on Holley 1920

Thank you for confirming that! Will 1231 also fit a later manifold?

Of course, but that was also when state of the art vehicle safety meant a padded dashboard

    Electric choke on Holley 1920

This is probably what I should have bought.

    Electric choke on Holley 1920

It looks like this. I think I bought the wrong conversion kit.

    Electric choke on Holley 1920

I ordered an electric Coke conversion kit from Mikes Carburetors to install on my Holley 1920. I haven’t gotten it yet, but from the pictures of it I fail to see how it can be installed on my carb. Any clues?

I’m sorry that happened. Yes, safety is really my only concern. I’ll at least install seatbelts in the Valiant. It has none!

I drive the Buick 20 000 km per year.

I’m curious how many of you use your classic/vintage car as a daily driver? I own a 1965 Valiant and a 1994 Buick Park Avenue, the Buick is my daily driver. It’s old enough to be considered a classic (special rules apply) car over here, although it really is to be considered a modern car. There...
