Thanks. Haynes screwed me pretty good then. It says they are splined in place and to press them out. Oh well, live and learn right? You know of a good source for replacement control arms?
Guys,
While we're on the subject I replaced my ball joints in the upper control arms. The old ones came out hard. They were the spline type that kind of bite into the control arm. The new ones sort of have tapered concentric ridges. They press in ok but don't stay with weight of the car on...
After removing the old broken pieces with the Duster up on jack stands, I decided that I have about zero interest in trying to wrestle one off of a car at a salvage lot.
Jim - want to get rid of one from your parts pile?
I have a broken anti-sway bar on my 1974 Duster. Maybe it's called a stabilizer bar. It goes from the lower arm of the front suspension on an angle toward the front attaching to the frame. It's about 14 inches long. There's one on each side. Anyone know where to get a new one?
I have looked at my back seat from inside and in the trunk and absolutely cannot figure out how to remove it. I need to upholster the seat and replace the carpet.
I recently bought a 74 duster. The previous owner fixed a broken rod for the seat catch by drilling it out and using a 3/8" bolt. He nutted it from the inside and outside to hold it in place.
