I need to pull the oil pump drive gear shaft due to my new dizzy key not lining up like it should, just need to skip a few teeth on the oil pump gear...
I've tried the putting a screw driver in the dizzy drive slot trick and cant get the gear to budge (ie ride up on the cam gear)...
any...
so the gear doesnt want to seem to raise up when I attempt to turn it with a screw driver... and yes I checked to make sure I was trying to turn it the right way.
do I have to drop the oil pan and take off the oil pump in order to move the shaft up enough to disengage the teeth from the cam...
ahhhhh, there we go... That does help.... backing out the gear and lining up the key on the end of the dizzy shaft is what I was looking for.
Didnt know you could do that.
is there an oil pump drive on the other side? anything I need to look out for when doing this?
The two pictures show the old and new distributors fully seated and engaged.
the engine has not been cranked inbetween the two pictures.
I can put the old one back in as in the original picture... but the new one will not drop in with the rotor pointing in the same direction. It only drops...
Howdy all... new to Mopars... working on a newly aqcuired 67 Dodge D108 van with a 318 in it. I'm replacing the old distributor with a Mopar Electronic ignition/distributor... here is the problem I ran into while installing it...
following all the directions... noted the location of the rotor...
