    1960-1962 Valiant/Lancer thread

Atlas Obsolete Chrysler parts has what you are looking for. I am going to use them for the sending unit my 63 Valiant needs. They have the diagram of the parts with numbered breakdown of the parts on their site.

What about this new Ethanol E-15?

Has anyone used Lucas Safeguard Ethanol Fuel Conditioner with stabilizers ? I have a bottle I boughty just before the seasonal switchover hhere in Tucson, but haven't used it.. Ethanol will be back again in Oct. Guess I will find out then. Still use a lead additive. Occasionally.

    What should I name her?

Drive it. The car will suggest it's own name. Trust it to tell. It's like voodoo. My ION just named itself Onion after 7 years of not having a real name. And the Valiant has been called Mothra for so long I have forgotten the origin of it. But I've never called it anything else in over 30...

    Feeling pretty proud!

I learned to drive on a 66 Mercury like the one parked next to your Valiant. You NEVER see those any longer. Oops: looked more closely: what is that car? It looks like 90% of a 66 full size Mercury.. Was this an actual 66 Australian Valiant or did Chrysler make this particular design for more...

Fender tag decode help please? 1963 Val

www.mymopar.com has a recently added 59-65 category to their decoder. Mine I got through one of the sites that was dedicated to the 60-62 Mopar but can't remember the name of it. My Signet came of the line in Los Angeles too. Hope that helps a little. And there is lots of information to help...

    Are our Slants "Unsafe"?

BTW, ValiantBandit: I was NOT accusing you of being a worrier, but suggesting thre ARE people out in the wild who would think that banning old. Cars from the roads as aa public safety measure would be a great idea.

    Are our Slants "Unsafe"?

The entire Baby Boom Generation was raised in cars like our Slants: unbelted, unabsed, unbagged unsensored and survived. Cars just like ours drove billions of miles carrying people of all ages mostly without incident. According to Govt. Stats the death rate on the roads had been trending...

    Are our Slants "Unsafe"?

That was not in reference to anyone here or any of the comments posted. If that is the way you took it, my apologies. It has been the general tendency to legislate away anything someone deems unsafe or unappealing to themselves, so therefore no one else should be doing it. That attitude is...

    Are our Slants "Unsafe"?

Unfortunately I can't agree with you any less, Mcnoople. There's obviously enough interest in the topic and the thread that people continue to post on it. It's a worthwhile topic of discussion even though I think the bed wetting handwringing nannies out there need to dial it back on worrying...

Scored at the local u pick it.

Ah, but you can try. That's what it's all about. I like their enthusiasm. I'd try to save it too. What a waste it would be for it to go to the crusher. If that hole in the block was in the floors and trunk maybe it would be best to leave it where it is, but this seems to be a good specimen...

    Where to Start?

I love the Slant Six. It's longevity is legendary. Yes, the column shifter is straight out of 1942, but go to a show and see how many are out there. At the Mopar meets at Woodley Park in Van Nuys, it's rare to see even one. They are the weak link in the drivetrain tho. Lots of black dots for...

    Are our Slants "Unsafe"?

70 Dart sedan: no. Not smarter at all. Just my own observations. Hated to see that car destroyed when the result was preordained. And those Mopar crash tests with the 60s Plymouths were scary. Glad to have the improvements in steering, brakes, construction and all. Vehicles are better than ever...

    Are our Slants "Unsafe"?

A few things: Those were 5 MPH bumpers in the 70s allegedly to control costs of parking lot accidents. Later found to cause a higher cost in repairs, not lower. Well documented in the magazines of the day. There was no 15 MPH crash standard. The Pinto, statistically, was no more prone to...

    Not Another 1966 Valiant Signet

I love em all,and have a 63 Signet, but the 65 is my favorite because all the details are just right. They fixed all the things that bugged me about the initial design: the hairpin on the front fender goes horizontal, taillights with the round back ups look like jewelry, the grille is well done...
