    REAR Clunking Sound when turning

Probably right. I'll have to recheck in the spring when I get her going again up at the cabin. I'll update at that time. Thanks for the input, all. Craig

    REAR Clunking Sound when turning

It is a single "clunk" only when going around a corner at low speed, never on straight-aways. It does sound like something's loose. As far as the condition, I would say the frame is pretty rusted, especially around the rear shackle attachments.

    REAR Clunking Sound when turning

My 1966 Valiant runs great, but when I turn the corner at slow speeds I here a clunking sound from what I think is the rear right side. It sounds like something is loose and/or shifting underneath. I'm thinking it has something to do with the suspension, shackles on the leaf springs, or the...

[WANTED] FUEL AND TEMP GAUGE, 1966 VALIANT /6

I'm interested. More so a working fuel gauge, but the temp gauge, too. Got a price in mind? I wouldn't think shipping would be to pricey. Craig

    Overheating blowout, bad pump

I'm gonna go with a PO sabotage. It's out of the system and I'm driving again, no problems. Thanks to everyone for the input, over and out.

    Overheating blowout, bad pump

Just drove home from cabin - 120 miles. I stopped twice on the way down to check the radiator and fluid. First stop the pressurized coolant bubbled a little when cap removed. About 195 degrees. Added a half gallon of water. When I started the engine I could finally see some movement in the...

    Overheating blowout, bad pump

It was like Old Faithful, Antifreeze blowing out all over the car and engine compartment, with the cap on. Luckily I had a gallon of water and I got home. I have a newer water pump, flushed the radiator about two years ago, and the temp had been spot on - 190 degrees. I've had no problems until...

Rusty leaf spring attachment to frame

The leaf springs on my 1966 Valiant 200 attach at the rear to metal boxes on the main frame that are just about completely rusted out. Any ideas on how to repair or strengthen the attachment points? I'm going to check with a welder about fabricating new boxes and welding the to the frame.

    Super 225 timing settings -

So I have my 1966 Valiant tuned up to factory settings - 2 BTDC and 650 RPM at idle. It has electronic ignition. It runs great, nice and smooth. I get about 20 MPG with straight highway driving. However, the acceleration is lacking. I have seen recommendations for settings all over the...

    Super 225 Heat Riser Questions

The heat riser on my 1966 Valiant is totally stuck, though I've been able to wrench the flap all the way vertical, and the car runs fine, but the temp gauge (installed by PO) runs up to about 230-240 degrees. When I pull over and open the radiator cover (very carefully) the coolant has no boil...
