I had these custom made. I wanted them made to exit at the same point as the stock manifolds. In hindsight, I should have had the passenger side designed the same way as the drivers side is. Oh well still works!
@RustyRatRod Oh I'm not discounting his work at all. Had a good chat with him on mine. He was baffled with my low exhaust port flow numbers. I have another set I might get tested, just to see if mine were a one off or not. My intake ports averaged 220 cfm with very little work done to them and...
Very similar. Thick wall castings, a little more material in the bellhousing area and maybe the lifter valley. I haven't measured that, but it does look beefier. Doesn't have as many freeze plugs as the LA. Chrysler changed very little to adapt to the LA. It's why the LA still has the 59 degree...
The headers are custom made. Tried to get them to match up to the stock exit locations. In hindsight, I would have done the passenger side differently.
The cam is from Camcraft. 224/224 @.050" solid .450" lift. 110 degree lobe separation 106 ICL. Very flat torque curve. Over 300 lb/ft from 3000...
The Poly has a great intake port. The exhaust port really need help though. And as previously mentioned, they can't be hogged out for huge numbers. Here's a pic of mine. 294 HP and 320 TQ. More show than go, but I'm ok with that.
The mods I did for my 97 dakota 5.2L really woke it up. I assume you would see the same if not greater gains on the 5.9L
Ported TB

Crower 1.7 roller rockers
Ported heads

Finally got her back on the road, fittingly on what would be Dad's 73rd birthday. A999 transmission works extremely well with this combination. Cruises a little over 2000 rpm at 60 mph. Very happy with the results.
Going to 1.7 rockers woke my 5.2 up in my 97 Dak. Or the 262HR-12 comp cams. Pretty close to the Mopar R/T cam. Extra 2 degrees on both intake and exhaust, lobe separation is 112 compared to 114 for the R/t Cam and slightly more lift.
I have both the 1.7's and R/T cam in my Dak. Really wakes it...
My magnum heads were 215-219 stock and 242 @.500" after porting on the intake. Exhaust were surprisingly good at 163 stock and 180 after porting. All at 28". I will the casting quality between the 2 heads were very different ends of the spectrum! One was a nice smooth finish, the other was very...
Engine and transmission are back home where they belong. Next up is measure up for the driveshaft. Couple more patches to close up on the floor and sound deadening. Then I'm stalled on the interior waiting for my carpet to come into stock.
I have a 87 318 cop. Standard broomstick HFT cam with 345 360 heads. Nothing special. At least it's roller block though. Does have roller timing chain. Does have slightly higher compression height pistons to make up for the 360 head. They claim 9:1 compression, but I think they are optimistic.
