I ended up marking the area the dipstick should go, pulled the transmission and massaged the area with a nice size hammer. After that I bent the tube a just a little bit for good measure. It is close ~1/4 inch from the tunnel.

I used the Holley mount kit as well including the Holley bh23104 headers. With the engine in the car at minimum you will need to raise up the engine on the drivers side to fit them in the car. I ended up putting the drivers side header on the engine, then installed the engine from the top.

I will be keeping my original style dash and under hood harnesses as they are only a few years old. I will be removing the engine side of the under hood harness and use a Hotwire harness to run the ECU and transmission on my 6.1. I’ll add a second relay and fuse panel for any other items such...

For a while the 340 ran with 4.30’s when it had a 2500-2700ish stall. It wasn’t mich of a highway car. Swapped to 3.55 after the 4 speed was swapped in. It was a nice middle ground for street and highway. Ultimately it just depends on what you want the car to do.
