So the snail won the drag race...

Well guys, here's where I'm at. Vacuum advance unit is good. Put a vacuum gauge on it, holds 18in of vacuum without any leakage. With my timing and my light set both to zero, full advancement on the distrubutor's vacuum advance brought the balancer around almost all the way back to zero again...

So the snail won the drag race...

I'll check that flapper valve whitepunkonnitro. Really only 15/20? Wow would've guessed higher for some reason. I have a vacuum gauge at home I'll use to check the vacuum advance tonight. What are your thoughts on drilling out the idle transition passages in the carb? I have a few articles...

So the snail won the drag race...

Where I'm from (southern Wisconsin), my car is emission exempt. If I don't need a cat, I'll gladly delete it all together. Exhaust pipe size I figured needed to be stepped up a bit...waiting to get a few more dollars before doing that for now. I've recently replaced the thermostat with a 180°...

So the snail won the drag race...

I'm hoping to keep the car as stock as possible on the 1bbl induction system and mopar ignition. I'll make it a super six if I really need to, but also being low on dough it may be harder to accomplish that! The cat was installed about 10 years ago according to the receipt. I don't know the...

So the snail won the drag race...

Sorry Dan forgot all the different emission packages. Alright here goes. - It's a '76 with federal emissions. - Catalytic converter (PO installed) is newer. - About 5,000 miles on a tune up - plugs, wires, cap, rotor - Being a '76 it has factory electronic ignition - Pulls 21" of vacuum while...

So the snail won the drag race...

Hey guys back again with this demonic Dart. 4 door all original car, 37,000 miles, bone stock featuring the 225, 904, 2.71:1 rear combo. Let me start out by saying its slow. Not the kind of slow you get when your fingers are drenched in tar and you want to text your grandma, but slow as in...

Build sheet codes for a '76 Dart

Hey guys I'm working on decoding my build sheet and have a few unidentified codes that I'm hoping you could help me out with. I have searched here and on the google and haven't come up with any results for the blank ones listed below, so any insight is appreciated. Here's what I've got so far...

    Slant 6 Operating Temp

Thanks for the help guys. So far she's been running nice and cool on every trip I've taken her on. Warmest she's ever gotten is around what I'm guessing to be 205ish (halfway up the gauge), and that was only during a parade and idling in still bumper to bumper traffic for awhile.

    Slant 6 Operating Temp

Yes this is a stock gauge. Sits rock solid solid there no matter if the heat is on or if you leave it idle for 20 mins. Good to hear this is normal though. Had an overheating issue the other day when the water pump belt broke, and then the thermostat got stuck open and never warmed past barely...

    Slant 6 Operating Temp

Hi guys, Recently I have completed a full renovation of the heating/cooling system in my '76 Dart. New hoses, thermostat, sending unit, everything flushed, etc. My question now is this: I installed a 180 degree thermostat for summer driving. By holding my hand on the upper radiator hose, I can...

    75mph vibration

Well guys, looks like we found our problem. As initially suspected, it's the rear tires. With the car on jacks and in gear, it had a definite vibration/waddle. When I walked behind the car, I could watch the tire shimmy side to side! Back to the tire shop tomorrow when it's not supposed to rain...

    75mph vibration

Quick update: checked the tires by free spinning them all by hand (no driveshaft in yet). None of the tires appear to wobble as the spin. All are mounted tightly and can't be wiggled by hand. Watched the rims and didn't see them walking in and out either. As for the dots on the tires that were...

    75mph vibration

I will check the driveshaft spinning tonight once it's all back together again (almost there haha). The shop is reputable, and hell my dad works there and put the tires on the car in the first place. As for freeway RPMs, I'll double check my speed with a GPS at some point, but according to my...

    75mph vibration

I know the size is 225/75/r14 on all 4 corners. This I believe is a bit larger than stock size tires, but the PO put that size on and I like the way they fill out the fenders and don't rub. Rim width I'm not sure of though.

    75mph vibration

I originally had some Dayton on it from the 80's. Then I got them switched to the Cooper Cobra tires aabout a week ago.
