    You can read what Admiral Kelso concluded on 17 Oct 1991 in my link. I assume that was the final word.

    Read here on the history of the USS IOWA and the tragic accident that claimed 47 lives: H-029-4 USS Iowa Turret Explosion I am sure there are different accounts of the facts. But regardless, so sad what happened in Turret 2 that day on 19 April 1989.

    Absolutely. Some time ago here on FABO random pictures thread, I found this picture described as the USS New Jersey passing through Panama Canal in 1984. Just awesome.

    I have that same photo. As I recall that was a 15 gun broadside blast of both 16" and 5" guns. Strictly business going on there. A great part of history.

    I spent 2 days on the USS Iowa battleship roughly 2 months before the deadly 16" gun explosion. Awesome ship and firepower.     And you can vouch that each cylinder had the piston at the top with both valves shut? You saw it? I just still cannot believe those numbers. Buy your own tester and check it out. Just my opinion...
