I have been a member for a while but never seem to have time to post....I bought a Panther Pink Duster (color only) a while back but a fwe problems are keeping me from driving it very much.I was wondering how many of you guys have a BIg Block with power steering and a 4 speed in your A body? I...
Thanks guys,
You all are a pretty sharp bunch...Very good advice...and I thank you.
The fan was pretty heavy and the belt (new notched) didn't wrap very much of the pulley. It started to squeel around 2000 rpm (guessing) and did it every shift. I am also guessing that the clutch fan I replaced...
Thanks Guys,
I think I should wait until I get the 833 master kit installed, the 4 speed back in and drive it for a while. I don't have 25 miles on it since I bought it. It wasn't as good as I was told. Fresh Paint and some chrome add a 440 topped off with a 4 speed....Well I was hooked...
I guess I am going to keep you guys busy with questions....
The 440 4 speed engine that came in my Duster had an stock 8 blade steel fan. The problem is that the fan pully has 2 grooves and the only one getting the use has only got about a 23% wrap. It squeals like a stuck pig. I tried a clutch...
That's the information I was kinda looking for....Mr. DemonSeed.
It's all progressive mechanical linkage, not vacuum. So depending on the rear ratio, rpm and gas pedal advance......does that mean it could over carburate, lose vacuum and fall on it's face? (worst case)
I wonder if that is...
Just wondered what you guys think about the 3 duce intake carb set up that Atlantic Performance is selling for $1300. I don't know why I'm even thinking about it. My engine runs fine with a 4 barrel w/ alum intake. Maybe it's just the idea of having a...440 6pack....I just thought I would ask...
Thanks guys,
The noise would be the cam lobes not the bearings...my fault. It is not a lifter noise...just a low growl like the lobes and not connecting rods.
I am not saying there is anything wrong...just trying to make sure by running it by you pros.
Does the engine package sound correct...
Hey Guys,
I was told buy the guy who sold me my car (72 Duster 440) that I should run Rotella oil in it because it has the right stuff for cam bearings....this was told to him by Crane Cams.
The cam makes a groweling sound that I have not herd for any engine before.
Here is the low down on...
Thanks for the replys,
The levers are on the rear ( 1978 9" Ford Lincoln Ver-something) but no cables on the rear housing, calipers or any on the car in the back. I rebuilt the rear calipers BUT could not find the rubber hoses that go from the calipers to the steel brake line on the rear end...
Hi All,
I bought a 4speed car with a Ford disk rear.... all of the factory e-brake system was removed...even the handel inside (1972 Duster) I bought a used line lock for the front brakes...but worry that if the battery dies from what ever draw it takes from the battery...I am in trouble of...
The guys here said to check my clutch adjustment when I had the same problem last week. I also changed the fluid to a thinner weight syn. Works much better now. I laso double checked my shift plates for perfect alinement.
Hope this helps... Bud
The guy (age 30) did a fair job on the transplant...I have done a lot of correcting and fixing. He said he only put 75 mile on the rebuilt eng. The car had a 340 before the new 440 and was a 318 when mfg. Gold Duster with the snake skin roof I think.
I have changed the tranny fluid to LUCAS...
Thanks ACE !
I'm on my way to the Auto parts store now. I keep swapping the pinion yoke and installing a new seal on all these different ratio 9" Ford Lincoln rear hog heads. What a pain finding the rear disk hoses..still no luck. I didn't put this rear in...I bought it that way. Now I'm worred...
