    Fuel pump?

I recently started smelling fuel when I went out to the garage where my Duster is stored. When I left the house, the engine stuttered and stalled when I let off the gas. Now the smell is much stronger and seems to be coming from the area around the fuel pump. There are no signs of fuel leakage...

    Removing instrument cluster.

I know I messed up on this one. I did have the battery disconnected while positioning the cluster, but reconnected it to quickly check my bulbs while the hot wire side was partially hanging out. That’s where things went really sideways. I didn’t actually read about the black wire being hot as...

    Removing instrument cluster.

I got it out and replaced the fuel gauge and instrument bulbs that were out. While testing the new bulbs I inadvertently grounded the hot wire that 67 Dart warned about. The result was the hot wire under the hood fried at the connector block. Ugh. It’s a mess of brittle parts and wires right there.

    Removing instrument cluster.

    I’m sorry, it’s a 74 Duster 318 auto.

    Removing instrument cluster.

I have taken the two bolts underneath the dash that hold the steering column in place. It is now loose and moves up and down about an inch. This is not enough clearance for me to remove my very brittle instrument cluster so I’m looking for guidance on how to lower it down further. Pictures or...

    Engine won’t fire

Hi- I have a 1974 duster 318 automatic. I’ve had intermittent issues with the ground on the ignition module, so normally if I take the bolts out and scrub the metal and put it back together the engine will fire right up. I drove the car last night with no issues, but this morning I can’t get...

    Gas gauge not working

Rats. Any place anyone could suggest I find a replacement? Is the gauge removable, or do I have to get a replacement cluster?

    Gas gauge not working

The temperature gauge was working all along. I haven’t checked it since I started this gauge project. Before when the ignition was on the gauge would move a tiny amount, but never come out past empty. It would go from covering the E to just barely uncovering the E. now the needle is laying on...

    Gas gauge not working

I have a ‘74 Duster with a 318. When I bought it, it had a new gas tank sending unit. Before I started messing with it, the gauge would stay showing empty no matter how much fuel I put in the tank. I cleaned and reinstalled the ground strap, and it didn’t make a difference. I ran a hot wire to...

    Kickdown rod adjustment.

If my kick down lever linkage is too short, is there a threaded adjustment somewhere in the lower linkage? my other choice is to cut the upper rod and add a sleeve to it to make it longer. 1974 Duster 318 auto converted from 2 barrel to 4 barrel carb.

Linkage set up on 1974 Plymouth duster with 318 automatic

I’m guessing they put that nut and bolt on there to keep the kickdown moving at the same time as the throttle cable. I deliberately haven’t driven the car much because of my concerns.

Here is a picture of the old carb and linkage before I took it off

    Yeah. It’s not adjustable either.
