    Engine Died

My fault. You're right. I don't know where I got 317 from. It is a 225. I got in touch with an online company that offers one for $889 delivered with a 3-month warranty. The shop that used to work on my '65 Valiant said the labor to swap it out would run between $800 and $900.

    It's a 317 L slant 6. Only 75,000 original miles.

    Engine Died

Last fall I purchased a '77 Dodge Aspen wagon, which seemed to be in really good shape. Coming home a few nights ago, the valves began ticking on the highway. Before I could get home, the engine threw a rod, and I thought the car was about to explode. I was told that buying another engine...

    Dodge Wagon

I checked it out today. The car is in better condition than my old Valiant, and it has a slant 6 to boot. I'm going to sleep on it tonight and go by tomorrow with cash in hand. I'm pretty sure I'll be driving it home and, once again, jump back into the Mopar game.

    Dodge Wagon

Thanks for the responses. I'll definitely see if he'll budge on the price.

    Dodge Wagon

My old Valiant had a slant six, and while everything else fell apart, the engine kept right on running strong. Exactly what do you mean by "check the drivers frame front?" Also, how can I test the gas tank for rust?

    Dodge Wagon

I used to own a '65 Valiant, which began giving me serious problems that I could never resolve. I ended up selling it. Today I ran into a '77 Dodge wagon. I believe it's an Aspen but not certain. I plan to go have a look at it tomorrow. The owner is asking $1600. He says it runs well...

Carb Blues, Gonna Let It Go

I don't know why or how the manifolds could go out. However, the shop that works on my car are really good people, and I trust they know what they're talking about. They said my problem definitely isn't the carb, and there isn't rust in my tank. I got in touch with the yard that has...

Carb Blues, Gonna Let It Go

Okay, so I put the car in the shop last week. I talked to them this morning, and they said at the least I'm gonna need both intake and exhaust manifold gaskets. Those shouldn't be a problem to find. The mechanic said I'm probably gonna also need a new exhaust manifold and maybe even an intake...

    Point Settings

Yeah, we replaced the condensor. I'm still skeptical that it's an ignition problem. Today I was messing with it, adjusting the carb and turning it over, and the car would catch and idle for about 3-5 seconds and then just die back down. It kept doing this over and over. I called the shop...

Carb Blues, Gonna Let It Go

Calm down, guys. I'm in the Atlanta area. I'll add my location to my screen name if that'll kill the yelling. Damn.

Carb Blues, Gonna Let It Go

Hey, guys. My brother and I were able to work on my car today. We put in a new battery, distributor cap, rotor button, ignition points, condensor and plugs. All that stuff was burned up to a crisp. The car now turns over very hard, tries to catch, but simply will not. I once again return to...

    Point Settings

Thanks, fellas. We found out it was 17,000. The car still won't catch. I posted a thread on the fuel forum, as I was certain it was the carburetor. We put in a brand-new battery, replaced the rotor button, points and plugs, but the car still won't catch. I called the store to see about...

    Point Settings

My brother and I are working on my '65 Valiant this afternoon, trying to get this baby back on the road. Does anybody know the ignition point settings?

Yeah, I sure will keep you guys posted. I'm off to sling some hash and brew now. Hopefully, I can get back on it tomorrow.
