    Dual carbs on a slant

It's a pessimal setup for sure. It's a downdraft 2 barrel manifold with two worthless sidedrafts on a homemade looking adapter. The Stromberg CD carburetor is, to put it bluntly, a piece of ****. And the installation is going to be a poor flowing nightmare that will condense all the gas out...

    Slant 727 WIW

I don't believe for a minute a 904 would hold up behind a 340 or 360 in a heavy vehicle like all those vans and trucks or the heavier cars. Not for sustained abusive use. I said the SLANT 6 727 was made for a reason and that reason was that it would not be the weak link in a heavier vehicle...

Believe in the GM HEI ignition now?

If I had a time machine and offered to send you back 51 years you'd take me up on it.

    I like that a lot.

    dual spark heads

They are not low performance, they are high performance for the way they measure performance which is based on sustained power to weight, brake specific fuel consumption and time between overhauls. When we say something is high or low performance we have to ask how we measure performance. In...

    dual spark heads

Any hemispherical head will run better with dual plugs and this was indeed a good idea that because of cost and bulk wasn't implemented on the Street Hemi. Chrysler engineers designed those castings from the start with this capability, although I think some were not cast with the needed boss in...

    Slant 727 WIW

I have a slant six Dodge truck as well, and a 904 is NOT going to hold up as well in a truck if you work it as the 727 will. I agree that in an A body it is extra weight, but there are people besides A body owners too. If you are going to pull a trailer that is true as well. People do not...

GM HEI on Mopar,Does it work?

The basic MSD patent has surely run out by now. It is not very well known but several OEM systems had multiple spark designed into them. In fact, the original Model T Ford system was a form of multiple spark. Multiple spark is only useful at low and medium RPM because at high RPM there is...

    Slant 727 WIW

No. I just wanted people to know that there was a good use for them and they should not needlessly be scrapped. All the internals are the same and you could also saw off the bellhousing and put an UltraBell on if so inclined (i.e., you needed SFI housing and were going to cut a 727 anyway.)

Believe in the GM HEI ignition now?

I wouldn't run points for anything. My dad put the old Delta Mk whatever ignition box on all his cars before factory electronic came out. When factory electronic came out he (an electrical engineer by degree) would have nothing else. We had a REAL "lab scope" the old Tek 540 series mainframe...

GM HEI on Mopar,Does it work?

It's a good thing you weren't around during WWII. I mean, WAS IT OVER WHEN THE GERMANS BOMBED PEARL HARBOR????? :angry4:

    Slant 727 WIW

The built them for a good reason, the trucks and heavier cars need them. Light cars do okay with the 904. I want a 518 myself but there are none with a /6 bell. The Ultra Bell guy has no interest in making a Slant 6 one either.

How to: GM12SI alternator on a small block

We have to ask what pulley sizes you are using on the ND vs. the GM alternator. If the ND holds up better than the Delco but has a bigger pulley and turns slower it is an unfair comparison. You can rebuild a Delco 12SI for a lot less than a ND as well, in fact some of the NDs are throwaway and...

GM HEI on Mopar,Does it work?

I did the HEI module thing just because I carry a spare and they are a lot smaller, plus if you need one in a small town the Mopar box is a wait. The new aftermarket Mopar replacement is a Chicom made junker, if real US made ones were still common I might not have done it. I mounted mine on a...
