Remove rear window/pillar nameplate? 64 valiant

Was able to get them off with some car crawl gymnastics. Turns out I needed both methods. Two nuts accessible from the headliner. One only from the trunk. Also found a mummified mouse in the insulation…probably not a crucial part so I will not be replacing that.

Damn, that explains the cuts and adhesive there. Oh well, guess that makes it easier to get to.

Sand and repainting some spots. Seem tough to find any info on how to remove this thing. Saw the backside of a rusted out one on eBay and looks like it could be bolted on? Hoping I don’t have to take out a headliner to get at this. Can lift a flap a bit but don’t want to start pulling at it h...

Engine charcoal and spark plug bonks

I'm happy to have wonky math when it works in my favor. 3k isnt terrible, going to get familiar with a few junkyards out here and keep an eye on marketplace. Don't mind rolling the dice a bit on something that looks promising. Magnum swap using what I can from the 273 in my near future. Any...

Cleaned up cylinders because...well, i dunno anymore. Something to do?! Reading through some threads, checking around on marketplace/craiglist/ebay and doing some "Im not the best at math" napkin math. Here is where I'm at. 5.2 swap: - Rebuilt shortblock for $1-2k. another $1.2k for heads...

With how they were looking they would make some sense.

It runs pretty decent, if it didn’t cost me 15 dollars in disappearing oil every time I drive it it’s probably be fine as is. I’ll give that a shot today and take another look. Couldnt hurt at this point. Already smoking out the neighborhood and anyone driving behind me half the time.

Ink blots and magic 8 balls…neither playing nicely with me. I wasn’t able to tell, tried to get a poke and the black oil globs were hardened. Definitely could be coming out from piston damage, no idea. Hard to tell and eventually ran out of time to experiment. I’m sure I’ll go back and look at...

Engine charcoal and spark plug bonks

Some puzzling oil chunks that may have fell in there at some point or maybe made it through the rings. Saw the same thing in a few others. Didn’t know what to make of it. Hard to make out the screen shots but about half the cylinders had the stuff below

Well, spent the last few weeks following some advice here. Cleaned up the engine and tried to run the demons out of it with diesel, Seafoam, and oil changes in various orders. Added some washers to the plug, found an ancient peach pit trying to become a diamond buried in the valve carbon...

Engine charcoal and spark plug bonks

Guessing since I bought it back in July. Admittedly, don’t recall if I checked all the plugs or if I hit a handful and thought it looked ok enough. Probably only driven the thing 100-150 miles since then. Everyone keeps telling me “sounds like it runs good! What a find!” Meanwhile, I was trying...

Sounds like yall need a throat lozenge…I have some old candied oil that might do the trick. I guess pulling the engine would help me get at the rear main leak and the clogged up oil screen. Putting in something else might be the responsible thing to do. Right?! Maybe. Don’t know what it would...

That sounds more like a reality check 8 ball. The magic one would tell me how great my future engine days are. I guess it’s time to invest in a cherry picker and engine stand! The 16 year old neighbor kid that lives in my shared apartment garage is about to be so bummed when I’m in there all...

Engine charcoal and spark plug bonks

Pulled plugs in my 273 for the first time since I bought it, 7 hole plug gap was bent closed. New plugs in, drove it for a day and 7 hole plug gap is closed again (probably a dumb move). Guessing the piston is the only thing closing that plug. Is there anything I can do without a full...

    Mystery of the smoking nuts

Updates: didn’t have to buy a ship anchor. Hope I got most of it sorted but still worried about overheating. -changed hydraulic hose. Was pretty worn. -brake fluid swap and blow out the lines. -rebuilt and repositioned for the 5th time. - ran the car on jacks to look for wobble, tired...
