    Resto-Mod VS Classic

I prefer that cars look period. I think that ultimately the car's value will be higher, if the car looks either original, or at least modified to look like it would when the car was raced. Some of the resto-mods, start to look a little cartoonish, and over done.

Biggest tire and 15" wheel possible on a 1966 Dart?

I think they will rub. I raced a Dart in SCCA, and we ran 15 inch, but had to replace the whole well, and bow the body to fit. This was during the late '60s, and early '70s, so even racing tires weren't as wide as some street tires now. Granted we ran a decambered spring, and the car sat...

    lightest a-body??

The 318-3 was a heat-treated and shot-peaned crank identical to the 273, in my hurry typing about the engine in Grable's car, I made a mistake, as the crank they used was the 301 "Poly" crank from 1957/58 A engine, which was a different crank altogehter. Sorry 'bout that.

    lightest a-body??

The lightest A-body was the ’66 Darts that were hand made for the early SCCA sedan class. This predates the Trans-Am, and ran cars based on FIA, or international touring car specifications. These cars were similar to the famous “D” Darts. This allowed the cars to be...

    Engine Bay color help

I like the way Mopar painted the engine compartment. To me it's brighter and cleaner looking. I would think if this is any sort of restoration, you'd want to go that route. My alternate has always been a light to medium gloss gray, as I can see leaks, or dirt. Flat paint gets looking dirty...

    Early A-Info

I assume you are putting in a V-8. Which one? If you put a 273/318, you don't need any kits you just need motor mounts...there is no such thing as a Slant 6 K-frame on '63 to 66 A-bodies; they are all the same. If I remember correctly the 340/360 has relocated motor mounts, so they would...

    Hello to all

I love your wagon!!! i want a roof rack. Back in the '60s and '70s there was a bright red '66 Dart wagon in town with ALL the options...top of the line 273, the works...i wanted it bad, but one day it was gone, and I never found out where it went. The owner kept it immaculate.

    Hello to all

Yep I know. Back in the bad old days, you could buy the front sway bar brackets that you had to weld on the lower control arms, and then buy the bar and bits. I guess now, you'd need to find a set of control arms with the brackets in place. Arrrggggh!

    Hello to all

Hello A-body people, A very quick introduction. My name is Tim, and I've owned and worked on A-Body Mopars since the early '60s. I spent some time as a mechanic and gofer on one of the early Dodge Dart road racers, pre Trans-Am FIA lightweight. I also owned a Dart, myself, which I ran in...
