    Core/Freeze Plug blow out

Thank you for the responses. I made sure the surface was clean and dry. No pits or rust issues. No socket used on the install. I bought a plug installer tool and am driving them in by the edge. I am using Permatex 2 on the edges of the plug. Yep. Plug popped out when I got on it. No...

    Core/Freeze Plug blow out

I replaced a couple of leaking block plugs on my '77 360. Used the 1 5/8", Doorman 555-030. It shows the open end dia to be 1.643 with the closed end diameter, 1.63. Heigh is 0.50 This plug dropped in with not a lot left to drive it in. I tapped it in with the rim being a bit more than flush...

    Oil Pump Fitment

Thanks for everyone's help. I was able to get it together today after monkeying around with it. It's bolted up fine and the pump spins like it should.

    Oil Pump Fitment

Engine is a 1977 360. I bought the engine rebuilt and did not have an oil pump. I purchased a melling 72s pump. The mounting neck will not fully seat, which does not allow the pump outlet base to mate up flush with the bearing cap. There is a "step" (see attached pic) in the bushing hole that...

    Oil Pump Bolts?

Just bought some for mine. 1 1/4" in length works with a lock washer, grade 8. They can picked up at an auto parts store.

    360 oil pan/gasket

The lower pan looks like the one I have. The top pan looks like a front sump. The small (ribbed)and large end on that pan are opposite of what I need. it also does not look like it has the dip stick guide/channel for a rear sump pan.

    360 oil pan/gasket

It is a one piece gasket. The gasket is correct for the block. The 4 piece gasket (the one with two large end gaskets) that is correct for the pan is not correct for the block. If someone has a good rear sump truck pan, one that has the large front and small end, I'm interested.

    360 oil pan/gasket

I have a rebuilt '77 360 that I purchased and came with what appears to be the wrong oil pan. There was not a gasket on the pan when I got it. I purchased a gasket for a '77 but it does not mate up with the pan. The rear of the pan does not have the ribs like the the gasket. From what I...

New lifter install help me understand

Looked at some other lifters and all of them acted the same way, able to push the plunger with my finger. Took the new lifter apart and it did have oil from the motor in it. I cleaned it out to make sure there wasn't a piece of trash in it . Poured some oil in the bottom of the (lifter)...

New lifter install help me understand

rod length is good. Not sure how to guage if the rocker cup has excessive wear. I have not pulled the intake so can't get a real close look at the cam lobe.

New lifter install help me understand

73, I'm sure, I had the cover off and isolated it to that one. 412, I thought that might be the case, looked for wear marks on the valve covers and/or baffle. It's making noise with the covers off so it's not hitting. I pulled a couple of other lifters and they don't budge. I left the...
