Why would anyone put 318 heads on a 340?? Makes me question the rest of the build ... Sounds like a basket case don't buy only valuable thing here is the 340 block itself
Your going to have to replace valve spring know matter what you do if your doing it right ... I would put a different cam then that one make it worth your while but that's just me . I like this cam for close to stock applications I had one on my stock 73 340 worked well for me...
thats not 100% true i ran Lunati's # 10200702 with the 1.6 rockers prolly round 509 intake and 528 on exhaust for lift. so yes i went up in cam size and i am not saying there are not better cams out there i was just stating my experience with the cams i have run in my passed. lilredrooster...
I would not buy cross crap intake and I ran a real Eddy air gap on a mosty stock 340 1.88 valve it ran better then the stock ... My mosty stock 340 responded well to a Eddy air gap intake and its good intake if you end up grading your motor in the future
i have not had the car on a dyno or been down the track with it yet . they only way i can gauge the power is racing my friend in his 89 fox mustang back in 2006 my motor 73 340 with 8.5 to 1 was rebuilt to stock spec expt for a comp cam part kit # SK20-223-3 he told me his mustang ran high 13s...
my 340 is stock stroke i had hughes port my eddy air gap intake and my elebrock rpm heads i had them put a 208 valves in flows 300 cfm at .500 lift power difference for me was night and day i paid 1200$ for a pair of heads and about 1200$ in head work but was worth it i have not had my car on...
I have the 340 whiplash cam in my car sounds awesome as far as performance I had a comp cam and lunati both cams around 480 lift the whiplash cam is 549 lift because I am running 1.6 rockers out of all the cams i have run the whiplash has had the most power out of any of them prolly not going to...
Are you guys local or Will to meat near San Diego ? I would to the 3.23 trade but I would need a little cash on top ... I mean a 741 case is not worth what a 742 and 489 case is
8 3/4 center section strong 742 case with 3.55 gears not many miles on it pulled it from my challenger its in very good condition local pick up for San Diego 650$ I would also be interested in a trade for a suregrip in a 3.23 or 3.91 in a 742 or 489 case
Sell it separately the center section is worth easy 500$ not hard sell at all ! These suregrips are getting hard to find the junk yards around me are all cleaned out the days. Of finding them for 300-400$ are pretty much over unless you find some that has no idea on what they have I sold one for...
