    Aftermarket valve covers and intakes?

I used felpro 1646 thick cork with a steel shim gaskets 5/16" thick. Mopar Performance cast aluminum valve covers and a edelbrock air gap. Fit perfect no grinding required. Local autozone had them in stock.

    Pop pop on exhaust side

If it hasn't been mentioned, Might want to check the power valve. If it's blown or has a high vacuum number like 10.5" As far as I know power valves won't usually effect idle mixture. But could come on too soon off idle. If his idle vacuum is around 9" I'd use a 4.5" power valve. Just...

    Pop pop on exhaust side

I think that his gauge is showing about 9 in of vacuum. The outside numbers are cm vacuum.

Does this prove David Vizard's 128 lsa formula ?

I recently degreed a cam with a cloyes timing set. It was of 8 degrees retarded Dot to Dot. I called cloyes, the guy said they are aware of some sets that were marked and keyed wrong. He would have replaced it but I just made it work ignoring the advance/retard marks. (It actually took...

How tight to set solid lifters

For what it's worth, I'm building a bbc with a Howard's Solid Roller and I called them today about setting the lash for initial start up The Hot setting is .022 for both valves He said to set them .018 cold Then check again when Hot, the lash will grow about .004 when Hot on a iron block with...

Advice vs pros and cons of engine flush

Yes Diesel is a Great cleaner! I was accused once of not changing the oil on a twin engine boat because the oil was So Black before and after changing it! After that anytime a engine had dark oil I would drain it then put 1 gal Diesel with 1 qt oil in and run (idle) it for about 15 min or so...

    408 stroker head gasket recommendation

I just put a new set of afr bbc heads on a 4.310 bore, afr said to use a 4.540 gasket Because of their chamber size and shape. That's more than a 1/4" I usually shoot for as close to bore size as possible, but sometimes the head dictates gasket bore dia.

    408 stroker head gasket recommendation

I run 91 with 10.4 compression, Tf heads, .044 quench with both shaft and pushrod oiling. 224 Cam, Ivc 38 degrees @ .050 Max Mechanical timing is 31 before it pings. But that's in AZ Summer 115 degrees. With the smaller closed chamber modern design aluminum Tf heads they don't need as much...

This isn’t stock, anyone identify this

Lol Yeah the instructions that came with my Hughes hold down kit says .005 to .010 Side clearance. I set mine at .010 works great and much quieter too. I think some would consider that to tight because the factory stuff was so loose. Now I will say that's with adjustable rocker arms. Maybe the...
