Need to do a little more work on the baffle templates before I start cutting and welding metal. For now though, I still have the air cleaner baseplate needing sandblasting and paint. I had some el cheapo gloss black that I used a heat lamp on to bake it in after I sandblasted and primered the...
Thanks Steve. I'm starting to get back into this project. I had several rough years for awhile. The trouble doesnt live with us anymore. Banned from ever coming back to live here. Started tinkering w model trains just to keep tinkering. Life is good, and I'm back!!
Carb stud mounted throttle return spring bracket. My Eddy AVS has a built in return spring, but I want an extra spring. This weiand intake makes mounting a stock return spring kinda wonky.
I also ran a borescope down the intake to make sure all 8 ports lined up nicely on intake installation, with minimal squeeze out from the ultra black RTV I used. These are just a few pix I took, however Everything looks great on all 8.
My AFB has a built in throttle return spring, but I still want an extra return spring. The intake manifold being not stock and sitting higher, the OEM return spring bracket fits a bit wonky and wont work. Like the throttle cable bracket, I want this mounted to the carb studs.
Primered, tapped holes in the metal, threaded 1/4-20 bolts in place, tack welded, then cut the shanks with heads off. Coil mount will get scuffed and painted matte black.
Restored the air cleaner lid on lunch break, and afternoon break. Sandblasted, leftover epoxy primer. Sprayed with VHT black wrinkle finish. Cant wait to put the pie pan on, and the mopar air filter decal.
The rubber coating on the wire clips on my R/H valve cover was peeling off. So I removed it, and used wire shrink tubing. Intake and valve covers are on. Next up I need to make oil pan baffles, and get the pan on. I used a real thin coating of Permatex ultra black on the intake manifold gaskets...
