I finally got my 367 running right thanks for the help now I'm wanting to start getting parts together for a stroker wondering g what my ci options are this will go in either a 73 duster or a 67 satellite as a street car with occasional strip time thanks

Ok removed rocker arms and shafts for fun I pulled push rods exhaust rod was visually shorter I had some laying around dropped it in bolted up and the pop is cured so the problem was incorrect length pushrod #1 cylinder exhaust valve

I guess if push rods are good rocker arm doesn't fix it the leak down was good that goes back to the reply like the sbc it has to be a flat cam lobe. I really appreciate all the reply and info to get me in the right directions thanks. Also I will post what the actual problem is and what the fix is

So I took a feeler Gauge checking preload and #1 exhaust had lots of play I taped .047 feeler up made a shim to take slop started and the pop is gone!!!! Pull shim it's back.... so the exhaust valve isnt opening fully gonna get new rocker and try that first as a fix. Any other ideas?

Took a double check on wires they are correct also I swapped the #1 wire to a wire on the other side of engine to test wire same pop drivers side

Ok so I started pulling plug wires and when I pull #1 pop stops new plug still pops

I have changed one plug and swapped one wire cause initially #7 cylinder had low compression compared to rest after another test today all cylinders around 120 with pop still there I guess I should start maybe with plugs and wires on that side? Also lookin at ordering aluminum header gasket to...

Even with open headers the sound was noticeable but this being my first build I figured header noise and a muffler and exhaust would fix it after the rest got quit the popping became more noticable

It does have a header leak but that's not the pop I'm hearing. When I installed cam I didn't advance any just lined up the dots Factory pushrods were reused I can roll motor and spin all push rods with my fingers I haven't checked rocker arms with a feeler Gauge but I don't think they are...
