Gas syphoning out the vent/tank problems

I couldn't get a good picture of it, but it didn't have the extra return nipple. it's just running the single 5/16 out, Had a better view with a snake camera, and wanted to make sure (been thinking about switching to the larger diameter line, and adding a return for vapor, as I've had problems...

Gas syphoning out the vent/tank problems

Does the vent run down the whole filler tube, without any gaps to breath? The more I'm thinking about it, it seems like once I got the tank filled to the base of the filler/vent tube, it can syphon out the top part of the tank

Gas syphoning out the vent/tank problems

My bad, it's been a while 1965 Barracuda, running a 318 the previous owner put in. The vent to me looks original unless he ran something different inside the filler tube, but I can't imagine that. When it happened, I was able to stop it by plugging the vent tube with my finger, so I know it...

Gas syphoning out the vent/tank problems

That looks clean, I think the guy who did work on my car before replaced the rubbers on that. The sending unit looks okay too. Yeah, I think that could have started the syphon effect initially, but it kept spewing out gas for a good 5 minutes or longer after I stopped the pump. Hell, it was...

Gas syphoning out the vent/tank problems

Hey guys, been a LONG time since I've been on here, but need to get comfortable with my car again. I had my car worked on a year or so ago, and had a couple issues when I last got it out, and hate to say it but it's been sitting in the garage for too long now. Initially taking her out, I ran...

    ballast resistor

The only problem with that is that the brown wire will be hot when turning the starter, and then engine wont start until you move the key back to the run position, so it will be tricky to start. at least to my understanding that would be the consequence.

    ballast resistor

I dont know the differences from a 65 barracuda and a 71 duster, but for me I had two ignition wires, one for when the starter is turning and one for when its just in the run position (Dark Blue one) What I ended up doing after I got rid of the ballast i just connected both sides, other wise, I...

I think my tranny is leaking

every time I take it out for a drive theres a spot in the driveway right where the transmission drain hole is, i changed the oil last year and put that bolt in tight and used plumbing tape on the threads. its an old 4 speed, the one without the sliding yoke, dont know if that makes a difference...

    exhaust leak.

damn, so I never used a torque wrench till recently, and i just tightened 6 of them and it made a huge difference, book said 30 ft lbs. once I get some light tomorrow ill finish the other two on the other side of the brake booster, and report back if that fixed my major problem that I didnt know...

    exhaust leak.

Would that cause both problems? I still feel like there is exhaust coming out between the manifold and the head.

    exhaust leak.

From all that I can make out, Im pretty sure I have an exhaust leak. Would an exaust leak next to the spark plugs cause performance problems? I originally thought that while driving that it wasn't firing off of a cylinder and I got a Compression test kit (But i haven't gotten around to checking...

    electrical problems...

its the second one, when the guy before me put the 318 from a 73 barracuda in he included the ignition system, so it has the last one. Im pretty sure my problem was hooking up that wire to the alternator, I took the risk and drove it to work today, and from 4-10:20 it kept 12v and started right...
