    18" Wheel help

You live in Mid Michigan like me. I gave up on chrome and all those lifetime warranty lugnuts years ago. I walked into my friends boat shop about two blocks from my house and we noticed the chrome was pealing off my year old lifetime warranty lugnuts. He walked over to his bin of solid stainless...

How high should I make my ceiling in my new shop,,,10 feet or 12 feet

I am in the suburbs. But… liberals wanted windmills everywhere. They became ugly eyesores. So everyone gets punished with building regulations because nobody wanted them built where they could be seen by boaters on the Great Lakes. I live off the bay.

How high should I make my ceiling in my new shop,,,10 feet or 12 feet

Might want to check building codes for your area, township, county… Mine won’t allow an outbuilding roof peak to be taller than the first floor roof peak of the house on the property, or 14’-6”. And no pole barns or steel sided barns were allowed in my township , couldn’t be built forward of the...

    Wide body

I’ve done the maximum width tire thing since about 1990. I wouldn’t go too crazy with modifying fenders you might have to replace in the future. The Duster I have runs 275/35/18 (sometimes 285 on 18x10 rims) in the front and 355/30/19 tires in the back. I’d minitub the back. It’s fairly easy and...

    Soĺ Cal fires

Just heard in the news there’s 0% containment of the fires and they need all the help they can get in California. If you have firefighting experience and live in California and were part of the cut backs they had, the people need your help. Not arguing or grandstanding with knowledge.

    mini tub

If you just tubbed it I would get some measurements to make sure a frame rail wasn't off 1/4" from the factory. That said, in a perfect world on a Duster you should have 15-1/16" clearance. I would trim your fender lips back slowly with a grinder and a flapper wheel about 1/2", it's a little...

    Inexpensive paint, gun worth considering?

The Harbor Freight Black Widow shoots OK, it does leave a little orange peel to cut and buff. It is OK with metallic paint, seems to get boogers on the needle tip if I didn't clean it every other cup. I have other off brand guns I can't get replacement parts for after just a few years...

    18" Wheel help

Nice '71 Demon! You probably don't want to cut up the body or mess with it to get 18" wheels on it. The only reason why there are a lot of Asian aftermarket wheels with a 5 x 4-1/2"[ 114.3mm ] Bolt Circle is because it's what Mazda, Lexus, Acura, Infinity, Nissan, Toyota, Honda use on various...

Left hand lug nuts are back, baby!

This entire conversation is funny to read to me because I work as a mechanical engineer and design machinery for a living. And I've used electric motors all the way up to the 3,000 - 4000 HP range... And gear systems up to 30,000RPM's... So the theories everyone has about rotational forces...

    Inexpensive paint, gun worth considering?

There is only on paint gun anyone should buy. Its the Devilbiss DV1 line. You won' regret it. You don't need the digital DV1's either. I have he DV1-B, DV1-C & DV1-S. Cheap guns are for shooting primer.

Left hand lug nuts are back, baby!

Left hand lug nuts went extinct because they got broken off by unknowing people. And impact drivers at the tire shop did a majority busting them off. Centerlock wheel nuts have to worry about pins being sheared off and the Centerlock nut loosening itself under braking on the right side.

Appropriate Wheel Offset for 18" Wheels?

I use both 285/30/18 on a 10+" wide rim and 275/ 35/18 on a 9-1/2" wide rim on the front of a Duster. The 10" required me to add about an 1-1/2" to he lower fender support rod and I swapped out the upper control arms with SPC Adjustable Control Arms. I didn't have to do any other metal work...

Anyone running 315s on 18" wheels?

Pirelli P Zero. If you street drive you car get a tire with tread. Seems everyone on here thinks a race tire with a couple "tread grooves" is a good idea... until it rains or snows...

Anyone running 315s on 18" wheels?

I'd just skip all those skinny tires and just go with 355/30/19's on the back. there is an Avon 375 that will fit Duster's

    Cuda Gills on a Dart?

I like it. Looks like the builder is on his way to a completed car. With the body painted.
