Good enough. I'll keep it for now. I have the whole rotating assy. plus the rods, rockers, shafts. The engine never suffered any catastrophic failure. I just had serious endplay. Maybe one day if I come across a good block and some heads I'll build an extra 340. Thanks everyone.
Just a question about my old crank. It's an oem 340 forged crank that got chewed into about .070 or so at the thrust bearing. Is it worth keeping? Or is it scrap? Don't know much about that sort of thing, thanks for reading.:D
Thanks. I will check for that. Is there something that will be noticeable to me by impacts from excessive endplay at the flex plate? It has a heavy duty one on it.
I have a CRT-904-4 trans that I will be installing back into my Dart in about a week or two. My engine had to be fully rebuilt due to crank wear at the thrust bearing. The question I have is this... Is there any way that the transmission could have caused the crank to fail? (excluding converter...
Just looking for opinions regarding Harland Sharp roller rockers. Having trouble getting the ones I wanted, need to go with something else. Thinking about going with theirs. Thanks.:burnout:
I picked out a cam with my builder last week, but now we may dial it back a notch due to a change in stroker kits. I cant remember the exact specs, but I think it was a 284 dur 110 deg solid cam from Comp.
The Heads are doing just fine. They were repaired with a piece of brass similar to the copper repair. The only odd thing about them is the cc's ( 76 )
Got a set of Hughes 1.6 roller arms ordered and Comp beehive springs.
I don't fault Dan at all, he most likely knew nothing was wrong seeing...
Thanks! The engine is starting to come together now. My builder found a rotating assy. that will make the right compression. It'll be a 416 now instead of 372. I'll take more pics when it's in my garage.
Okay, I'll now be going with the 416. The heads definitely are 76cc they were measured several times. Summit has all sorts of kits but they all say 4.070 bore, but I'm waiting for them to get back to me on a quote for a kit with the pistons I need. I tried to look at Bloomers site but its not...
Thanks Brian, actually I'm looking quite hard. It's the 4.08 bore piston that is causing the trouble. As far as the budget, I'm closing in on that mark. I have the headers ( had them ceramic coated as they were out of the car ) and an MSD system, brand new.
Thanks, This site rocks. The heads cc'd @ 76. I didn't consider the ethanol. I was looking to go 10:1 but now I just want to get it all back together. My builder is actually looking into a set of the diamond pistons, he said they would make a low 9 ratio and they are forged. I'll be checking...
I am having a bit of trouble finding a 372 or 416 kit to go with 76cc X heads and a .040 over block. I'm trying to get at least 9.5:1 comp. any help with finding such a kit would be great.
