Sandblast or some kind of scuffing might be the way to go. I would worry about any paint because the bulb is hot incandescent and its almost touching the glass.
The old lenses have a uniform white coating over the entire inside surface. It is not just haze from being old.
I don't like the way the clear lenses look with the light on or off. You can actually see the bulb clearly inside and it was never meant to be seen. It is not pretty.
Sorry I don't have a photo of the reverse but there are 3 large metal tabs that hold the lens in place, I would need to bend at least 2 of them to remove the glass but I am not confident they wouldn't break off when I try to bend them.
The replacement dome lights for my Cuda are just clear lens instead of frosted white like the original. Does anyone have any suggestions for how I might fix that?
I tried using glass etching cream but it had no effect. I think the glass is too durable like Pyrex so it won't etch with chemicals...
Yeah, I am gathering everything I need to do a full rewire/cleanup of the engine compartment. So far I have already replaced the harness for the wipers and I have the harness for the engine. I found the harness that comes ready to install for electronic ignition systems so hopefully I can avoid...
Before I took delivery of the cuda, I saw photos and immediately recognized that the steering wheel was old and tired.
I found repro steering wheels available from Classic Industries and ordered the full steering wheel kit with a new horn pad and center logo. I believe this is made by OER...
It is 22 degree fixed mechanical advance with adjustable vacuum advance
I have the original windows sticker and the build sheet which I was told was found under the back seat.
Thanks for the wiring info. I have read a lot of people mentioning that option but I never saw exactly how it was done. I obviously have a lot of re-wiring to do. I am a bit of a perfectionist and I can't stand to see the rats nest of cables with zip ties all over the place.
