I had a 74 Scamp burgundy (I can't remember the exact name), with a white interior, my first brand new car, looked sharp.

I had the same problem, checked the whole system, front to back except for the exhaust manifold. Turns out 2 bolts on the right side manifold we loose. A little lock-tite and the problem solved.

I don't write the music, I just play in then band.

Turned 60 in December. Been losing my hearing for years, the speakers finally went out completly in September. Needed a surgical cochlear implant in November, now hearing again. I hope the 60's are better than the 50's. Doubtful but hoping. Aging is not for wimps.
