Is the "carrier" the housing ? --

I'm still a bit confused -- I guess more info than I can absorb. ----- My question is can I put a 3.55 posi unit, into a housing that currently has 2.45 gears in it, without any modifications ? -- Both housings are 8-1/4".

I have a 65 Valiant, 2 door post, and I believe that the spring bushings are original, but I can't see them. -- I assume that if they are the original ones, they're hard, and warn, and will contribute to road noise. -- Comments ? -- Thanks

I have a A-body 8-1/4" rear, with LBP, in My 65 Valiant. -- Will the backing plates, brakes, and drums switch to a 8-3/4" housing ?

I s the same housing used for 1.24 Ratio gears, and all higher ratios ?

Both are now large bolt pattern -- Are the backing plates, and brakes the same ? -- Is the driveshaft the same length ? -- Yokes the same ? -- It is a 65 Valiant.

This rear had new gears ,a while ago, by the previous Owner. Don't know how many miles. -- -- It whines to the point of being annoying. -- Can it be adjusted, or will I need new gears ?
