    Thank you halifaxhops! I guess a longer adjustment hole would effectively have the same result as larger rubbing block, and the points you show have both over the one I have. I'm convinced that not only do I have an inferior part, but one that won't even work.

    The car is clean and straight (even has original AM radio) but someone has been in there changing parts in an effort to get it running for sale. The points that were in there seem brand new also.

    1970 225 Slant 6. I installed brand new points, went to adjust the gap, and I can't get them to open at all. Even when they're as close to the cam as I can get them. Is it possible the cam is worn out, or am I missing something? The lobes are super shiny, but I don't know if they should be...
