65 Cuda wheels..which way to go?

Thanks! It was a process..complete with the UPS delivery fiasco, but it was worth the wait. The only pic of the new wheels and tires are my profile avatar. Maybe more on the way!

65 Cuda wheels..which way to go?

thanks all, for your input and advice! I finally got my new wheels and tires.. I went with 15 x 6 Cragar SS wheels with 215/60/15 Nankang Geostar radials all around. Just in time, too, 'cuz my old tires were literally splitting at the seams. (I haven't driven my 'Cuda in two weeks) I'm pretty...

    65 'Cuda: Reverse thread wheels?!

yeah. The tire tech at the shop had no idea my 65 Cuda had reverse thread bolts, so he snapped one of 'em off my left rear wheel core before he did anything else. I had to get on 'em to get it fixed, but they said the reverse sbp bolts were next to impossible to find. The solution: replace the...

65 Cuda wheels..which way to go?

Thanks, Don! I'm learning just by watching you guys share your MOPAR experience on this forum. Now I'm glad I waited to move on the whole tire/wheel set up thing. Besides, I just found out I'm getting a decent enough tax refund to fund my new wheel/tire setup. The disc conversion may come...

65 Cuda wheels..which way to go?

Thanks, DonPal. That's great info..I'm starting to think 15" rims are the way to go. Any suggestions on what width 15s to go with? Does going to 15"s require re-drilling axles? Or can I just get a bbp conversion kit? I'm looking very hard at 215/60/15s for my 65 Cuda.

65 Cuda wheels..which way to go?

Huh..I hope that will work. I really like the 215s.. But you're saying the 4.5's were safe for 215s? I only ask because the tire shop guys told me I had to go with wider 14" rims on 215s for safety reasons. I have the 14 x 4.5s ready to go on the 215s..but they said they wouldn't do it.

Verrry nice ride, Johnny Dart!! You got any other pics from different angles? I'd like to see the stance from different views.

65 Cuda wheels..which way to go?

Ha! Thanks Racerbob! That sounds like a good way to go. I'll look up this one-legged dude at Carlisle. Is there a name or direct line to him? AND..I'm leaning toward the 15" wheels. How wide a rim should I go with? I'm going with 215 tires. Thoughts, anyone? Thanks again, all!

65 Cuda wheels..which way to go?

Gah! I screwed up in my original posting! My steelies are 14 x 4 1/2 sbp. Are they too narrow for 205s? I"m sure they won't fit the 215s I've been wanting..but the 205s might have to do if I can't find the right wheels soon. good info, all! I value all your input!

65 Cuda wheels..which way to go?

Ok. You've probably heard these questions before..which is why I'm going to you all for the answers. ~my 1965 Cuda needs tires, but they're on the original 13" wheels. Gotta bump up a size or two. ~I wanted to go with 14" wheels and 215/60/14 tires, but 14" sbp wheels, as you know, are tough...
