I am not the least bit interested in torsion bar vs. coil over systems. I started following questions here to determine if there was a viable solution to getting rid of the torsion bars and steering box which are in the way when swapping in a Gen II Hemi for instance.
If anyone knows a good...
Maybe so but that IS NOT the question! I want a suspension that will handle a Gen II Hemi with the
room they require. Those mods you are talking have nothing to do with fitting the engine in the chassis. We already know you can make the torsion bar setup handle well but that is NOT our concern...
Some people won't go to a show unless they can drive to it in 15 minutes. I will usually tow up to a couple
of hundred miles to do a one day deal like this and as much as a full days tow for a 2-3 day weekend event.
1970 /6 Duster with 383 4-speed conversion done on the stock K-frame by HemiDenny at HDK.
It uses Schumacher conversion mounts and TTi under chassis headers with the #7 tube modified.
My understanding is that this conversion is not an HDK catalog item but it shows what can be done.
Referencing post #102 - In the first picture, set at ride height, it looks like there is
minimal clearance between the upper ball joint mount and the spring.
In the second picture with the suspension at full droop the spring has been removed
and it looks like there would be significant...
Now that's funny and I don't care who you are.
It won't work with stock unmodified spindles and steering arms just flipped side-to-side.
You cannot simulate the issues you're facing by just rolling it around on the shop floor with no engine in it.
I'd love to see the look on your face...
So the hoops are fine (as I suspected) but you were commenting on not mounting the coil overs directly to the stock shock absorber mounts with no reinforcement?
I was checking out the GTS catalog to see about this new system and on the first web page they state:
"Unlike some competitors, the GTS K frames use a built in upper coil over mounting point instead of using
the factory weak shock mount. Factory shock mounts were never designed to take the...
Really? From what I understood you don't even have an engine in your car yet.
Why don't you give us your personal ride and drive report on the GTS suspension?
