Well I'm back from winter hibernation haha. I have been making progress on a lot of different updates during the winter but wanted to post after things were wrapped up. Ran new brake lines with better routing and everything works great with no leaks like they were before. I took out the...
Thanks it's been a lot of headaches and a lot of fun making it. I wasn't but am now. I will try to post some photos over there too when i get a chance. I really can't wait for my buddy to finish weld the exhaust I made. It's going to look a whole lot better. The exhaust on there now was...
It's been a lot of fun that's for sure! This winter i'm going to try putting in a simple roll bar behind the body so I can run my car up at Loring to see what it will do. I will also be able to add shoulder belts as well.
As for my track bucket I sent the steering box to Clark's Corvair Parts to have it rebuilt and they did a great job. I knew I didn't have the tools to do the job right but had other tools I would have used and screwed it up haha. They even media blasted the box and it looks great. I ended up...
Haven't made any updates in a while. Have been busy racing and crewing so still having fun. In July I raced a lakester powered by a mostly stock pinto motor at the Loring Timing Association in Maine. It's land speed racing where you are timed at a mile and 1.5 mile. We race on an old retired air...
I had a stone bit and was able to open it up to a little over 2". The opening now matches the gasket I have. I was able to do this while it was on the engine and in the car since my slant is in a open body roadster. I will try to take it out some more next time I have the exhaust off.
I was planning on opening up the exhaust outlet on my stock manifold to help it breath a little better. What tool would probably work the best? I was thinking about a burr but in a drill or impact driver. Has anyone else used something else with decent success?
Nevermind, I reread the ad and saw the zipcode they would be like an hour and a half away.
How far are you from Reading PA? I have some friends there that might be able to grab it for me. I'm down in MD and wouldn't be able to make it up in time.
Here are some photos on of the shocks and the way she stands today. Test drove the car today and the shocks worked great. I still need to take the shocks apart and paint them.
I ended up making the discs out of a sheet of slippery UHMW Polyethylene from McMaster-Carr. I read up on sooo many...
Thanks it's finally coming together. Adding socks and headlight mounts today!
It was cancelled due to rain. There aren't anymore drag racing event till July unfortunately. I do have some dirt circle track events I'm going to try to run at in May. Need to get shocks on the front end and build a...
I set the toe to 1/8" in and that helped greatly with the front end. I also made some modifications to the brake pedal to make the pushrod more inline with the master cylinder. The car stops a lot better now but I'd like to improve on it though. ( no photos of that right now)
but.....
I do...
It has to be a very long reamer with a pilot bit or set up in a honing machine as the 2 holes have to be aligned exactly so the king pin slides through.
I got the starter installed and it works great! I went to drive it to a friend's house to do some welding and discovered some front end issues and wasn't able to make it to do the work so I doubt I will be racing this season. It looks like the king pins bushings are wore out on the front...
