Best riding shocks for an early A-Body

Any updates? I'm thinking Bilstein too, but want all the feedback I can get. Thx.

Torsion bars for better handling; your experience?

Update: I later switched to 1.03" torsion bars and I like them better. It feels more nimble and handles bumps like a champ. I now find myself looking for sharp turns and bumps to go over for fun. Go heavy sway bar and heavy torsion bars, and then quality shocks to soften the ride imho. I...

Need another mechanic tip: lower ball joint studs turning with nuts?

Pricey or not, if they solve my problems... Maybe I'll be in the mood to spend the money when warm weather comes back around.

Need another mechanic tip: lower ball joint studs turning with nuts?

I was thinking about that, but the only ones I like the look of are from SPC and kinda pricey. What kind did you go with?

Need another mechanic tip: lower ball joint studs turning with nuts?

I was researching that when I found this thread. I'm trying to tune my front suspension and can't get negative camber on one side. Someone suggested adding 1/8" washers between the ball joint casting and spindle to tilt the wheel in. I'm thinking about trying it.

Adjustable strut rods alignment question 74 Dart

I didn't have the sway bar disconnected when I set the ride height, but I can see how that would cause me to adjust one side differently than the other. I raised it up and messed with it along with straightening the steering wheel and it was much better. I'm hopefull that with the adjustable...

Adjustable strut rods alignment question 74 Dart

Thanks for the reply. Right after I posted, I went home for lunch, loosened the UCA bolts and was able to move it through the range of travel. I tightened the strut until it no longer wanted to drop all the way down and then losened it slightly so it would move again. Since it's now shorter...

Adjustable strut rods alignment question 74 Dart

I'm installing QA1 adjustable strut rods on my 75 Duster and have questions (stupid ones). Everyone says "adjust it so you can move through the entire path of travel with no binding." I removed my sway-bar, shocks, tie rod ends and cut my strut bars. Passenger LCA moves easily fore/aft and I...

    Torsion Bar Install

Update: It wasn't the pitman arm - the position was correct. Two different alignment shops told me that there wasn't enough adjustment to straighten my wheel, but I simply adjusted it straight with my tie rod sleeves and approximated my toe-in. The handling is improved. I'm now convinced that...

Does your Duster "float" at highway speed?

1975 Duster 318 with Power Steering and mostly stock style suspension: I'm currently having this same problem and no help from the alignment shops. Two of them, so far, have sent me home with my wheel turned 90 deg. to the right and said they couldn't fix it (fixed it myself). They could only...

    Torsion Bar Install

Well, I took the 75 Duster to the alignment shop and they didn't know what to do with it. The caster numbers weren't impressive, but I'm convinced this isn't an alignment, tires, etc problem. I used to align this myself with 25yo components, before offset bushings, with a tape measure, with no...

    Torsion Bar Install

I had given the Skosh chart to the tech and they were supposed to align to the "typ. performance street" specs, but who knows what they actually did. I felt though, that this was a bigger problem than a dubious alignment. I noticed the front end was sitting almost on the bump stops, so I...

    Torsion Bar Install

I'm dealing with something like this right now on my 75 Duster 318. I rebuilt my front end a couple of years ago and installed slightly larger .890 bars. Had it aligned in the fall and it drifted all over the road. I put it away for the winter, didn't drive it all last summer and now I'm...

    Rim suggestion

Who cares about the Honda Civic? I've driven my Duster with a stock 318 for 22 years and never raced anyone. I have a blast driving and working on it and drive it everyday in the summer. People who obsess about speed end up parking their overbuild cars in the garage and drive their Civic to...

    Cheap Seat Covers for Bench

I just want to post this because it's something I had looked for and couldn't find much info. After several years of purchasing and returning junk seat covers, I finally found one that did the job. This one works for a variety of split bench configurations and fit my '75 Duster 50/50 split back...
