Day 1. New battery and hold down. Checked/re-gapped plugs. Bought new alternator. Reinstalled freeze plug. Working on oil change. Need to flush coolant system.

From some research, they sold the "LA" style motor up until 2002-ish. I was thinking of using a truck motor 5.7l.

Low on compression on a few cylinders, haven't personally done a compression check yet

Hello all, I've recently inherited a Dodge Dart Swinger '71. It has a tired 318 that I'd like to put a newer engine in but convert to carb. I'll probably need a lot of help. I'm more of a maintainer than a builder. Tom
