Believe I set the gaps to .030 top ring .032 2nd. Had plenty of ring gap in it. With that being said it’s not out of the realm of possibility that I messed up while rushing it together, I’d just think it would have shown its face much sooner. I won’t rule anything out.
It’s part of the game. I’m actually enjoying working on the car again and being semi under pressure to make this race. Been a long time since I’ve actually enjoyed it.
Car is supposed to be at Pomona to race in 16? Days. Not a problem. Won’t have a replacement piston till next week sometime. Gonna roll bearings in it and brake clean what I can out of it. Dingle ball the bore and pour the coals to it.

Stock bore/stroke 440. 10.6ish-1, Unported stealth heads, comp XE275HL, torquer II, 850 Holley. Oh and a second atmosphere.
Found my bore scope, just had to pop the head off to make it work. I want to inspect the head closer since I saw some stuff I didn’t like, but #5 needs to come out. Definitely signs of scoring.
I think it just had enough fun for the day is all. It didn’t REALLY get bad till that little rolling burnout after the pull on the street. The smart *** stuff is what always gets me
