Might take sump off first. Prob more chance of it falling into that then it making its way along the block so I cant see it via the distributor hole. :BangHead:

99.9% sure I dropped the distributor clamp down the distributor hole!! Huge thing too. La small block 318 Looks like that. So, should I start by taking the intake off first? Or sump? Can't see it down there. Tried with a magnet. I've spent the last hour looking all around the engine can't...

Stripped my exhaust stud the other day! Doh! Thankfully got it out the head, along with a face full of coolant 5/16x18 unc I believe is What's needed. Should I run sealant around the thread before I put the new stud back into the head? If so what? I have some of this on the shelf (see pic)...

The motor is fairly old. Never had an issue though, plenty of power still. Did 40 odd miles the other day before the sound came back with in the last 5 or so miles If this was piston related I would expect the noise to be there from cold? to which it is not? This noise is ONLY when warm. Also...

So a few months ago I posted about possible lifter tick. This noise hasn't rewlly gone anywhere all though it did quiten down with some additive but I haven't driven the car much. And what with it being summer I wanted to use the car still, but now the winter is here it's time to investigate...
