    1963 Dart Restoration Questions

Looks like good "bones" to work with! You have reeled-in a 1963 Dodge Dart. The firewall has a protrusion for the wiper motor that does not play well with the SBM distributor (fixable but more work/parts.) A slant six engine fits without modifications. AMD is a great supplier for floor pans...

    Show 'Em Off Slant 6's

I'll try to post a shot of my AL block with the 1bbl, but my exhaust is woefully short of your set-up!

63 Valiant - what are these springs?

I have always understood those springs to be a primitive attempt at "heat-dispersal." They help cool the drum during heavy braking. Maybe I am wrong?

A-body 1963-1964 Pushbutton shifter….Plymouth and Dodge the same?

It has been a while, but I recall that the 63-64 units are identical for Dart, Valiant and Barracuda. I have a pile of them.

    Show 'Em Off Slant 6's

I had another member ask about this recently. If you PM me your email I will forward the pics and description I sent. (The 1920's are a tiny bit easier to set-up.) Cheers - M

    Slant 6 Valve cover gasket.?????

It sounds like you have a later "hydraulic - lifter" head. These heads can be used on the earlier "solid-lifter" engines, but the valve cover takes a different gasket. Try a Fel-Pro VS50185C or Mahle VS39720

    8.75 out of 74 Truck

Mine came out of a 75 with a 440. Might have been swapped-in, but it sure looked original. I found some web info that claims the 8.75 was available in trucks 'till 76.

    8.75 out of 74 Truck

I have always understood that the 5.5 pattern started in 1985. My 84 is 4.5" and sports an 8.75 from a 1975 D100. Dodge truck forums have a wealth of info concerning bolt patterns. As of 2023, anything might have been swapped into a rig. Jus' sayin'.

    Show 'Em Off Slant 6's

I was looking to put it in my 84 Stepside Pickup, so exhaust options would be easier. I found that the 265 will bolt up (without mods) to a small block 904. Looks that I would need to supply an easy to fab block-off plate. I figured that I would get pretty good crowds at car shows.
