good grief. factory steel rockers are imposible to find. anyone have a lead on any. im wanting to replace all rockers and push rods. summit has the right side only. mancini is out of stock. same for jegs and speedway.

well figured it out. a push rod went through a rocker. only part i didnt replace. figures.

just finished building 383 its all stock parts. after finally getting some wiring issues resolved i now have a lifter noise. is changes with rpm. it wasnt there untill today. any idea where to even start? oil pressure is 40 hot. oil is full and motor hasent got two hours on it yet.

problem solved. the two wires going to the ballast resistor were backward. thank you for all the help

yes brass, thats why i set it to .010 its the only brass one in the bunch.

i have visually checked for fuel by working the accel. linkage by hand. it floods easy. one thing i forgot to add. i replaced the switch because the motor would kick. go from start position and not crank, back to run and then when you went to off the engine would kick like it tryed to fire.

checked coil voltage on + side with meter and comparing to battery voltage im dropping about a tenth. by reluctor im guessing thats the pick up? if so i set it at .010 but reading here i see .008 is recommended. havent checked for pulse. i will do that and break out the jumper wires and ground...

also jumpered the wires across the ballast resistor

68 cuda 383. that is driving me nuts. just built the motor got it back in and while it was out replaced the voltage reg, and complete new harness from firewall out. it has elec. ignition. try to crank it and no spark. changed coil, pick up, ignition box, ran continuity on wire from ecu to coil...

Well, problem found. after disassymbling the engine i found that the oil supply from the main rail down to the crank was all but blocked. when the block was cleaned i guess they missed all those ports. thats why i had pressure at the guage. needless to say the bearings are shot.

going to check cam tomorrow. and see if it lines up. ill post back what i find

did that and not a drop of oil. #4 is in correctly. all passages are clean.

Im thinking cam drilled wrong? the cam holes are clear but do they line up with the bushing holes. Thats the only thing i can think of

while running the gauge shows oil pressure. but there is no oil to the rockers. i removed the bolt where the oil comes in and while running no oil. it is dry. I did check the rocker shaft and oil holes are down and to the valve. I thought about head gasket. i ran a piece of wire from the head...
