Ma Mopar needs to learn a Thing or 2 about HP/Weight ratios for the Challenger

Problem is, it's a small percentage of people who could afford a true "muscle car" (read: not suitable for a daily driver) as well as a family car. Out of the percentage that could afford it, not many want to. The target market is so small,it doesn't make sense to target it at all. Personally, I just wish they'd drop the price on all the aftermarket parts so that BUILDING a muscle Mopar would be as cheap as doing up an F-body or Fox body.

I see your point, but if that's the argument, why are the Mustang and Camaro SO much cheaper and so much faster?

And what's the percentage of people who can afford a Challenger SRT anyway? It costs more than the damn Shelby!

They're banking on either brand loyalty (Mopar or no car) or lack of market awareness to sell cars. As we have seen, brand loyalty is not enough to keep Chrysler afloat (2 bailouts), and customer ignorance is not a bankable strategy. How many people would still spend the Shelby money to buy the Challenger SRT if they knew the regular Mustang GT would wax it and that the frigging 6 cylinder Mustang will give it a serious run for its money? (they run mid 13s off the showroom floor)
