Hello all, I have a 69' Dodge Dart that i'm putting a 340 in that I picked up a while back. I need a little help on what to do with my factory heater hoses. The factory 318 that I pulled out of it was plumbed for the in and out heater hose lines, one port on top of the intake maniflold and the other on top of the water pump. The 340 only has a plugged port on the water pump. The other port that should be on top of the intake manifold is not there? The fella I bought the motor from said he ran it in a barracuda and only at the strip, so I assume he had no use for a heater?
The other question: There is another smaller hose tapped off the pipe on top of the intake, and that hose goes to the back of the motor, then splits and is plumbed into each head, does this water need to recirculate? There is also a smaller port that is open below that pipe, what do i connect that to? I looked on my 318 and that smaller port is connected to the water pump with a small hose, why would he have removed this? The port on top of the water pump for this hose was plugged as well, so that wasn't connected to that. So that's confusing as well, I have no contact info for the guy I bought the motor from, as my computer crashed and I lost all relative info, only thing I remember him saying was these were "X" heads and he had it set up for the strip, he said the motor was streetable as is, but might need to be toned down a little. Any info will help, or maybe someone can point me in the right direction. Thanks Willy

It would probably help if you could post a picture or two of the front of the motor. I'm having a bit of trouble understanding what you're describing. I would think that the worst thing that you'd need to do would be maybe change the intake manifold.
