muffler suggestion?

Another vote for Dynomax Super Tubo's, great sound, no drone and a great price. I really think Flowmasters are over rated and every pickup with a cat back system around here runs them.

Anyone try Dynomax VT's yet or are they too new still? They sound like they have the aggressive sound of the ultraflows without the drone at cruising.

He doesn't have a cat back in his car. Completely different sound with cat's and mufflers when compared with exhaust manifold/header to mufflers. Honestly, if you want your car to sound mean like a 60's or 70s muscle car, consider the flowmaster's.

Daniel no but I can tell you they did not resonate inside and they were plenty loud out the back, really very much like 14" Welded 3" UltraFlos. Not sure how to describe them any other way as they were on Dad's 550 HP Pontiac and it has such a different tone than what the small and medium Chrysler engines have.

Here is what they look like and how they work.

Dynomax Ultra Flows (welded) gets my vote as well!

Blowmasters 40s are ok if you like loud.

Fagnaflows sound crappy... I heard a guys car after they installed them. The stock exhaust sounded much better.

Thanks for the pics tom. Those look like offset in, center out, and I thought our cars needed center in, offset out. Does either work or am I just remembering backwards?

Mine are center in offset out. I'm pretty sure either will work... it's according if you are going to run the exhaust all the way out the back

i think you are remembering backwards, they should be offset in center out.
the offset inlet is to be able to run the exaust closer to the driveshaft where it is possible to tuck it up slightly higher and more out of sight.
centeroutlet is more because they where that way stock and that means that there is more tailpipes that fit the car that way and that puts the outlet right under the location where the hanger behind the mufflers are suposed to sit

Much appreciated!

I always recommend these... Classic Chambered Powersticks

They are on the loud side but IMO sound WAAYYY better than "Blowmasters," perhaps not on video but definitely in person. Kinda like a cross between a glasspack and Flowmaster, actually. And they are basically straight-through (no necked-down inside tube), so they flow with the best out there. Resonance isn't too bad either (only at 40 MPH with a certain amt. throttle), and interior noise pretty much goes away once you reach ~60 MPH.

someone needs to make a camera that records without makin sound crappy. im sure that duster sounds way better than the video has to show for!

Just because a lot of people have flowmaster's, doesn't make them bad. There is a reason people buy them, they like the sound. Charger, go with what sounds best to you.

Flowmasters Here, on my '68 Dart GT (383)..

I have had Magnaflows and Dynomax.

Flowmasters sound better. I have Schumacher Tri-Y's and a "H" crossover.

Also, my muffler shop, who has a LOT of experience fitting Muscle Car and Hot Rod exhaust systems here in Huntington Beach, Ca. WILL NOT CARRY Dynomax any longer.

Too many Warranty returns due to sub-standard welds on the Dynomax is what the shop owner told me.

He has Never had a warranty return for a Flowmaster muffler.

YMMV.

im hoping to use Dougs headers and straight dual pipes. dougs are pricey, but i have a good feeling about em. and so, the saving begins!

mo doubt i will. wish there was a way i could test a bunch of mufflers on my car and choose which i wanna keep on there!

The video doesn't sound too different from in person, it's just more loud and "crisp" sounding in person when revved-up. Not quite as "flabby", cheapo-glasspack sounding as in the video. Honestly it's open-sounding like a Flowmaster but without the weird chirpy tubular resonance noise at low speeds which I personally think sounds bad; if you think it's cool then go ahead, Flowmasters are a proven design and I doubt you'd be disappointed.

I recently heard some magnaflows on a STOCK 01 Mustang GT. They had a nice mellow sound at idle but throaty when you hit it. very low key compared to 40's.[/QUOTE

MUCH louder, raspy and deep behind a built engine with Headers! I have them installed on my Dart now after hearing them on that stang. TOTALLY different LOUDER sound to them....
I'm in love! MAGNAFLOWS have my vote!
