Amen brother!

Or worse yet someone else.

Street racing not a good thing! It makes cops, lawmakers and the general public hate "hot rodders" and they remember when it comes to passing laws to get rid of us or our older cars.

Stick to the track.

it can be safe it's the idiots that make us look bad. I understand where your coming from though. I know a lot of you guys used to do it back in the day though

Why waste your fuel on hondas? Let all the amatures race that crap on the street, race the bowties at the track!

Back in the day is a lot different than now! Back in the day we started driving around 12 years old,had no license and no Insurance and half the time the local Police didn't do squat. Also back in the day there weren't near as many vehicles on the road as today and there were some really cool places to go hang out and run where it was relatively safe! But now If the Police think you "farted" while driving they want to write you a ticket! I have to admit there are some really cool Police Officers out there but most of them are just looking for an excuse to pull you over! You would be better to get the local dragstrip, if you have one to have one night a week set aside for street racing on the strip. It helps get drag racing off the street, makes the dragstrip look good and they make a little revenue from the added vehicles! We are lucky around here we have 5 dragstrips within 100 miles,3 of them within 50 and all very nice places! I don't recommend racing on the street, just too many things can happen and someone can get terribly hurt or killed! At the track you have emergency personell, you have to use safety equipmentlike seat belts, helmets, roll cage If the car runs certain times. There is no excuse and should be no shortcuts when it comes to SAFETY!

Well i now little of tinkering, maybe you can help me build a good lil fast slant!

I agree with 340mopar, 1969340dart, and 66dartman. It's not worth it!!!
When I was in high school I ran a 73 camaro with a 66 327 that was balls out with a M21 4 speed. Lotsa street races, lotsa tickets, and one smashed front clip cause some idiot crossed the line in his import. Im 28 now and I get "challenged" at stoplights by guys that think the same thing... "It can be safe it's the idiots that make us look bad"... There is a reason they have sighns posted about street racing all over Seattle/Tukwilla/Kent area. Don't give the cops a reason to follow you or pull you over just because your in a old muscle car, Its bad enough already.
Take it to the track and just laugh at the losers in there fart canned hondas at the stop light when they over rev the motor in the car that mommy and daddy bought them and have the cops follow them instead of you.

Hey scamp I agree, it's pretty tought over here in Cali with the Highway patrol, since SD is full of ricers and driving here is packed. I know its off topic nd all, but I want to install something like your wheels nd tires, the rear ones being a lil bigger than the front but not too noticable on the wheels. Do i have to do sometype of upgrade on my 74 swinger or is it already made to install those? im guessing whenever i up grade the engine with performace id have to put a better gear in the rear axle. 3.23 or 3.55 for a daily driver. not much racing. my front has disk brakes nd i dint even know that wooh oo lol

I have a set of SS springs, air shocks along with some longer spring hangers. I also took out 1/2 an inch from the rear wheelwells and welded in some 1/4 inch round stock to reform the edge of the wheel well. I got the biggest rear tires I could fit without rubbing and the front wheels are 14's and the rears are 15's.

Hey San Diego guys! Where and who is your closest NHRA track? Go check out an "NHRA Street Legal drag" night at your local track. I promise that you'll have all the Honda's you can handle and plenty more of other tuners as well. My store co-sponsored a street night a couple of years ago. I had the tuners lined up to race the "old guy and his vintage V8" all night long. I agree with the rest of the guys. Please, please go to the track and race as often and as hard as you want!

Tim

All the SD guys, do you cruise anywhere? Are you members of the Mopar Club of SD? I'm up here in Poway. Have my 71 Barracuda, 71 Challenger and 69 Dart GTS 440, as well as my SRT-4 daily driver...

Chuck

21. Paradise hills, wheres that?

Paradise Hills is east of National City and West of Spring Valley, I grew up around the University Area. By the way, know anything about body work? I want to get started on mine, gotta get rid of some rust.

i know a little, probably not enough. pm me we'll try to get together one day.

I don't know if they still do it or not, but they use to do 1/8th mile races at qualcomm a couple times a month. I am hopeing to get back to that area of the world here soon. I have a 72 dart swinger.

dartgts440, my brother lives in Poway and has since 1972

Yup, they still do them. The police put it on.. mostly ricers but thats okay, it keeps people safe and off the streets. I'm in the 92104 North Park!

I grew up in Chicago, but I'm out here in La Mesa as well. I have to say I like the weather alot better in SD than Chicago.

You should have lived in San Diego in the late 60's and 70's. Man, was it "the place "to live!
