I have had this starting problem in the winter ever since I have built this engine. Here is what it does, lets say if the temperature is below 40 (I dunno if that is the exact temp but somewhere in that range), you can crank all day on the engine and it may pop a few times but never enough to get it to keep running. Than if i say the hell with it and try to start it on a warmer day it starts right up like nothing was even wrong. The engine is a fairly built 360, Edel alum heads, Airgap intake, good size cam, 11:1 compression, and might Demon 650cfm. Engine was built 5 or 6 years about but only has 2-3K miles on it.

I inquired about this issue years ago but I was told it was because my Carb didn't have a choke and I would have issues trying to start it in the cold. I never moved the car in the winter after it was parked anyways so I came to except I could only start the car to run it on warmer days. This winter I have to be able to pull the car in and out of where I store it so this problem is starting to annoy me. I was talking to some of my buddies today about the problem and they said that doesn't sound right cause even without a choke it should try to run or run rally rough or something. Anyone have any opinions or suggestions about this issue?

.............ya im tired.......i see now u have the all mighty..........u must not have enough pump stroke, low float levels.......weak fuel pump.....etc..........or a poor ign system..........kim...........

Block heater, hahah just playing around. Id have to agree with kimmer. When having problem with engines there usally two main problems soo either not enough fuel or not enough spark

No choke = tough cold starts. You can try priming the carb with about 1/2 ounce of fuel down the throat to see if it helps.

With no choke the engine is gulping ALOT of air with little gas right off the bat.

Plus the fuel we use today doesn't make it any easier.
