Hi, I am going to swap my 273 for a 360 that I am having built. Its not a strip motor just street with some pep!. I have the stock radiator and am using vintage air now. The car runs very cool, however the 360 has the passenger side water pump dump. Can I take my existing radiator to a shop and have the lower outlet moved from drivers side to passenger side?? or should I get a different radiator... its going in my 66 dart. Thanks, John Oh by the way the 360 is a magnum block!!!

You could have the outlet switched. You could also swap the water pump & fan setup from your 273 over to the 360. You would also have to switch alternator brackets & pulleys. This might be the easiest way since you also have the AC to deal with. Biggest problem is that your 360 will have to keep it's existing harmonic balancer & that's where the timing mark is. Easiest thing to do there would probably be to make a new TDC mark on the 360 balancer.

I agree, transfer all the stuff from your 273 to the 360. The 360 should have the timing marks cast into the front cover and will be a little difficult to see but is do-able. I put all the 273 stuff on my 66 Barracuda and it worked out just fine.

Commando66, can you post a pic showing how easy/hard it is to see the timing marks? I need to make a decision about a balancer myself. There's a lot better selection of performance balancers in the later style.

...and PLEASE Commando66, tell us what brand of headers you are using!!! That's one sweet and clean job you've done there!!! Geof

Sorry, the car is all torn apart so no current shots. Cosgig, I had those made about 18 years ago. When I tore the car down, I sold a few parts including the headers. I've got a set of 1 3/4" to 1 7/8" step headers made for the car now.

Getting a radiator for a later model A body and having your mounting brackets soldered to it (might not even be necessary), or just having the bottom tank swapped out for one with the outlet on the other side at a local radiator shop are a couple of equally acceptable alternatives.
