Cooling system 1970 340 Dart Clone

Beautiful engine bays.

It appears that dustoff440 is using Magnum heads on his 340, with the high-dollar multi-use intake. With the later aluminum small-block water pump it appears no room for a thermostatic fan. Same issue in my 65 Dart, so used Summit's nylon fan. Ditto for stroker_valiant with the early cast-iron water pump. I couldn't use it because of the radiator I bought.

I wondered if my engine was too far forward, but since others have the same fit issues, apparently not. I understand that many later A's (~1972+) with alum w.p. do use thermostatic fans. Are their engine bays longer or the radiators thinner?

Actually the engine is a 360 magnum from a 93 Dakota R/T. The only non stock pieces are the camshaft, intake, and MP distributor. The pulley set up is from a 73 318 Satellite w/o air. I haven't measured but I am thinking that I can just barely fit a clutch fan set up. For now I'm going to run both the flexalite and the electric and try it without a shroud. At the very first sign that it's running hot I will either buy or fab a shroud.
