Regarding the Front to Back Top Edge Trim:

On a 67 Dart GT - should I leave the trim there or remove trim and weld up the holes???

How many like the "No Trim/Moulding" look.

Opinions are appreciated! Pics of No Trim Cars would be appreciated too.

If the trim is in nice condition, I would leave it.

I removed the 270 trim from the sides of my 68 and welded up the holes. I like the result, but I created a ton of bodywork for myself. You can warp the metal when welding, or when grinding your welds smooth. Then you have to add a layer of filler to a fairly wide area and sand, sand, sand to get it smooth and straight again.

Yours might go a little better cause your holes are along the top edge, instead of right down along the side of the car like mine was. Might not warp so much, or maybe your better at welding sheetmetal than I am.

If I had it to do over again, I would have done a little resto work on the trim and put it back on. My car is still not painted, mainly because of the increased amount of bodywork I had to do because of removing the trim.

Good luck whatever your decision.

I've never been a fan of trim, but that's just my opinion! Look at a car with and one without and make a judgment! I think no trim makes a car look less "granny" but then again, I hate vinyl tops and some people love em!

joeboy,

Is that the 88-1 bright blue poly on your car? I cant figure if I should do the original color (bright blue poly) or if I should paint it black..

I am settled on removing the top trim. I will keep the front and back moldings...

If that is indeed your color that may settle the debate I have been having with myself...??

Just my opion i think the 67 dart look cleaner without the crown molding. I bought my dart new and the molding was gone the first week. Still have it if for some crazy reason i want to put it back.
