Painting polished stainless emblems and trim

What is the best way to restore the black painted parts of the trim around the car.

Like hub caps, headlight rings and emblems ?

I am assuming that if I just paint the stainless it will not stick.

Repeat after me 800 grit wet and Krylon Appliance Enamel! :)

I cant really sand in all of the places that need paint, and using a spray can is out of the question also.
