On a 73-74 Dart, is the under hood paint scheme supposed to be all the same color as the exterior or was there some black? I've heard some bashing for the All black look.

all blackout hood treatments are topside only. all body color unless it is a fiberglass hood such as a six pack or AAR/TA hood.

Sorry for the confusion. I meant to say engine bay. But my hood is Sublime green on the underside.

all body color except for the black out at the front of the radiator support.

lol ok gotchya.... yes all body color. most C bodies have black inner wheel wells and 75 and up B bodies.

Plus the top of the hood should be closer to a matte black and not gloss.

Too late for that, I went High gloss on the hood. I wanted to be able to wax the heck out of the entire car. I almost put some graphics under the clear coat.

painting the engine bay black in a mopar is the worst thing that can be done to them IMHO

Not a big deal for me. I think some people get a bit carried away with this stuff but I can see if you're going for a total Resto to Oe Specs. This Dart will never be that at least not while I own it.

I agree with Waggin, I realize Mopars were body color in the engine compartment, but, as I said in another thread, its your car... if you think it looks cool black under there, and that makes ya happy, then thats the ticket

IMO black is the easy way out to cover an engine bay. i will always paint mine the way they came, but well ,you know, its your ride :D :poke:

I painted my engine compartment paisley, previously it was plaid… LOL

Just kidding.

I'm gonna have to paint mine Sublime to match eventually just got too many little mechanical things to do first. The question is whether to try to do it myself or not. It's a pretty clean engine compartment.
