Project- Bills Buggy

yeah that fender came out nice!

yup, the close up pic shows the orange peel a bit more. but it looks like you got a good thick layer of clear to work with to smooth it all out ...so you should be dandy. And yes be carefull not to burn through!....that would be a bummer.

I had a mustang painted a couple years ago and the guy that buffed it went to deep on a body line and ended up scorching the paint a bit. otherwise the rest of the car came out flawless. and had a heck of a shine to it.

I know what your going to....ive been at my project duster for about 3 years now and im itching to get it done and over with already so I can just enjoy driving it and cruising with my family. I have enjoyed working on the project....don't get me wrong, but its been and up and down roller coaster due to funds, weather, space, labor intensive fix's,lack of help, hard to find parts, and the list goes on.

but I am in the "home stretch now. Just need to finish knocking out the body work so I can get some primer on it. then its just a matter of waiting for some nice consistent weather to lay color and clear.

but its awesome you will have it pretty much ready to go in time to get a summers worth of cruising out of it and some good family fun. thumbs up to you on all the A+ work and be sure to thank your buddys for any help ....id love to have some friends that would be willing to help me on my project but they are all to scared to get dirty or are the type that dont do nothing for anyone unless they get something out of it ( also the type that forget about everything you have done for them lol) thats been a big hold up on my duster is pretty much tackeling it all by myself from top to bottom.

love the color on the dart though and cant wait to see it buffed out!

Thanks Jerrod... The kind words mean alot to me. And yea, I have a great group of friends, without them I would've never come this far. I am very thankful for them and all their help.

Your definitley in the home stretch with the Duster.. I know all too well just how frustrating that stretch can be.. it feels like your walking down a hallway with a door at the end, and no matter how hard your trying you just cant seem to quite get there... burns you out sometimes. Keep plugging away my friend, your so close.. I cant wait to see the Duster in primer, and then paint.. I am excited for you that your this close... I will post buffed buggy pics hopefully by this weekend.. stay tuned my friend..

Looks good Bill. Looks like it turned out better than some of the Easter eggs I colored. We did a '67 Mustang last year that had orange peel like that. A little wet sanding and buffing and all came out good. And, yes, flourescent lights make it look worse than it will in the sunlight. How much assembly do you have to make it road/show worthy?

Thanks man... I have a laundry list of things to do once the scuff and buff is out of the way.. but its not as long a list as you might think.. I have some touching up to do on the suspension paint (damn overspray) and i have some things to do in the interior.. then its just a matter of reassembling the rest of the car.. trim, hardware...etc.. things of that nature... Mechanically shes all ready to go...

Yea that fenders turned great, after you buff out the paint, it should really look good with that new vinyl roof. Are you putting a stripe back on?

Oh yes.. I bought a stripe kit from a member on this site (challengergary)

Wtg Bill Keep pics coming.

thank you.. stay tuned, scuffed and buffed pics coming this weekend I hope

Congratulations on getting it painted. Do yourself a little favor when you buff it out, use masking tape on all your edges & body lines. Especially if you have never cut a paint job before. I've bufed out quite a few cars & I still mask off the lines for protection. You can then go back & hand rub the areas the tape covered. It's more work but sure beats an oops after you came this far. Good luck!

Thanks, and thanks for the advice.. I PM'ed you with some questions, so I look forward to hearing back from you. I will keep you all posted how the scuff and buff goes....

Fingers crossed everyone! lol
